Thanks to Cheeks and the rest of the morning crew at Minneapolis' 104.1 The Point for making this his favorite web site! Anyone want to send me a Morning Show drinking game? :)

An Entertainment Weekly Site of the Week for May 8-14 1999! Only got a B+ rating, but that's still not bad... I'm working on upping that to an A! Thanks to Whitney Fitzgerald Freemesser for sending me a copy!

On April 1st 2000 (no, it wasn't a joke), the GO network sent me a note saying that I had been selected for a GO Network award as "one of the best for its subject area." Thanks for the three-star rating, the only one on their Go.com Entertainment page. Pretty cool, huh?

The Kim Komando Radio Show's Kool Site (Entertainment) for April 6, 2001.

Welcome visitors! I must be doing something right (he says modestly), because I'm getting nearly 200 hits per day to this site. But where the heck are you coming from, and how did you discover this page? Let me know where you found out about this page, OK? In the meantime, come see what other people have been saying (1997, 1998, 1999) about this page! (Some of the better quotes are reproduced below.)

Intro Stuff

Welcome to the biggest collection of Media-based Drinking Games on the net. I know, I've looked at a lot, and this one's the biggest. Trust me on this one. If anyone else tells you otherwise, they're lying.

WARNING #1: Drink responsibly. If you're too young or you can't handle it, don't. I'm not here to make you drink -- I can't make you do anything -- but I'm presenting them for a laugh. Whether you choose to drink with them or not, I want you all to come back and be able to read more of these games as this page is continually updated.

WARNING #2: This page is NOT for "standard" drinking games. You won't find any drinking games that use dice, coins, cards, or anything like that. This is for media-based (TV, movies, internet, sports, musics, etc.) games. You watch, read, or listen to something and take a drink when something happens. If you are looking for dice, coin, or card drinking games, check the Real Beer Page, for one.

WARNING #3: Accept no substitutes! This is the original, the one and only, the best drinking game site on the web. And remember everyone, I didn't write these games, I just link to them, so if you have any problems with the rules (like if they're out of date: yes, I know that Brenda isn't on 90210 any more, but don't bug me about it), write to the person on that page, not me.

WARNING #4: The following sites take other people's pages and put them up on their own page, often reformatted and without attribution: slashpalace.com, intoxicated.com, and webtender.com. If your page has been "stolen" by one of these guys and I have it linked, let me know and I'll change it.

At this point, you can either keep reading or bypass all this junk up here and go straight to the serious drinking.

Write To Me Stuff

There are a lot of duplicate Drinking Games on the web (try looking through all those X-Files ones to find different games!). If yours isn't on here, please let me know at WizardImps@hotmail.com and I'll add it. And let me know if you find any dead links, too; I'll try to fix them. For general comments, criticism, praise, flameage, flattery, interviews, offers of dates with supermodels, offers to send money or other valuables, advertising ideas, or anything else you want to get off your mind (like some of the people in the table below), let me know.

WANTED! I've had requests for the following drinking games, but have had no success in locating them: Breakfast of Champions, Candyland, Clockwork Orange, Fargo, Four Rooms, Friday, GO, Godzilla, I Know What You Did Last Summer, Independence Day, Indiana Jones, Interview With a Vampire, King Pin, Muppets, National Lampoon's Vacation, Pretty Woman, Saturday Night Live, That '70's Show, Three Stooges, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, Truman Show, Dick Vitale. If you have or know where I can find any, please let me know.

Attention Stuff

PLEASE, if you write about this page in an article somewhere, tell me about it! Here's a few that have so far...

UDGHP in print:

  • August, 1997: The Isthmus, the weekly newspaper of Madison Wisconsin, recently did an article about beer and drinking. This page was mentioned prominently in an article in mid-August 1997. They didn't put it up on the web page, though, at http://www.thedailypage.com. Thanks to Melanie Conklin for the writeup!
  • October 1997: Escape Magazine in the UK (formerly at http://www.escapemag.co.uk) featured this page in some capacity; I had a guestbook entry that mentioned it. They said they'd send me a copy of that issue; unfortunately, the magazine folded before they could send it to me.
  • January 1998: Swing Magazine, the self-proclaimed "magazine about life in your twenties," had some sort of article that mentioned my site, according to someone who wrote to me. Swing said they'd send me a copy too, but of course the one they sent was the issue AFTER the one with me in it... However, they've gone out of business too, so I'm not confident of getting that issue.
  • December 1998: I was interviewed for an article about media-based drinking games by the Washington Post; the article was printed in the Dec. 9th issue. Thanks to writer Michael Colton for the publicity. (I have no doubt that the mere mention of my web site will cause THIS publication to shut down...)
  • January 1999: A slightly revised version of the Washington Post article appeared in my hometown paper, the Houston Chronicle on January 21st. Of course, they edited my name out.... For a comparison of the two, see the Post article. This story also appeared in the January 20 issue of the college "Northwestern Daily."
  • May 1999: Entertainment Weekly made this their Site of the Week and gave me a B+ grade. Thanks to Caren Weiner Campbell for the writeup.
  • March 2000: Australian Personal Computer (Vol 21 No 3, March 2000) reviewed my page under the heading "Surfbaud" (pretty cool name!). Not a bad review.... Thanks to David Wyatt (s359288@student.uq.edu.au) for the notification. (Unfortunately, their Search is down now, so I'll link the review later.)
  • May 2001: A new magazine called Forbidden Internet interviewed me (August 2000) for their premiere issue. Unfortunately, nearly all of it ended up on the cutting room floor and I only got a blurb with the URL. A nice half-page blurb along with some other sites, though. Thanks!

Special Note: I don't usually do this, but there are two pages full of original drinking games that I want to point out. First, Claire aka andromeda aka jessierocket aka LitaJupiter has provided more than 30 completely original drinking games to this page so far, which shows her dedication to this American art form, and in all probability, beer. Second, Wes Southern has shown the wit, style, and bladder control to also make more than 30 games. He is truly a credit to his liver.

    UDGHP Awards and such:

  • July 21, 1997 -- Apparently I was named Site of the Night, though I didn't find out about it until mid-November.
  • June 12, 1998 -- The offical site of the Society of the International Men of Leisure
  • Dec. 4, 1998 -- The Booze Brothers "Award of Excellence"
  • April 1, 1999 -- This page was selected for a GO Network award as "one of the best for its subject area" on their Go.com Entertainment page. GO figure.
  • May 8, 1999 -- Entertainment Weekly's Site of the Week

And now, on to what you came here for... to drink!

  • Drink once if you've ever played one of these.
  • Drink twice if you've ever made one of these.
  • Chug if you've made a list of drinking games.
  • Click if you've made a drinking game drinking game.
