Hi! And welcome to my Chris Potter Page. Some of you may not know him so I will tell you a little about him. He stared in the TV show Kung Fu: The Legend Continues as the hot shot cop Peter Matthew Caine. That is where I discovered him for the first time. He also was the voice of the smooth talking cajon Gambit on the popular kid's TV show The Uncanny X-men. He is now staring in the sexy, racy, cop show Silk Stalkings as Det. Thomas Patrick Ryan on the USA Network. Which of course is one of my favorite crime drama shows. My boyfriend bless his heart helped me design some of the gifs on my sites. On this page you will read the story of how Chris Potter became an outstanding actor. Here is where his story began:

Christopher Jay Potter was born Augest 23,1960 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, where Ron Potter, his father, played professional Candaian style football for the Canadain Team the Toronto Argonuants. When Chris was about 5, his family moved to London, Ontario, where his father became an assistent coach for the University of Western Ontario Mustangs. Post-war London was booming and with the Potter family history provided deep family roots there. Chris grew up the eledest of three children with one sister and one brother including himself. Judith Potter, his mother, is a very talented singer.(I think that's where Chris get his music abilty from, but we'll talk about that later.) Judith Potter is now a successful lawyer, but before becoming a lawyer she was a housewife and also was a member of the local theatre community. She preformed the lead in a number of musicals for the London Theatre Company and the Grand Theatre. Judy Potter was soon join by her children in such musicals as "Oliver" and "West Side Story".

As you listen to the background music on my web page and you are probalty wondering who is singing in the background. Can you guess or do you give up? Well I will tell you it is Chris Potter you don't believe me? He does sing. Let me tell you a little about it. Music was an integral part of the Potter household. At the young age of 7, Chris began playing drums and his earliest performance memories are tied to the twin pursuits of music and also acting. Also in Chris from a young age, encouraged and nurtured by his father, was a passion and talent for athletics. This was not surprising, because his father, uncle and a cousin each had successful professional football careers. Instead of acting, Chris dreamed, in his youth, of a professional sports career. In high school he played for a highly competitive Canadain Juniors hockey but he left due to concerns by his father about Chris's future education. In high school he was a star football star and also a captain of the football his senior year in high school. Music was Chris Potter's first journey as a professional performer. In 1980, just before the start of the University of Western Ontario's football training camp, Chris told his parents he was quitting college to pursue a rock 'n roll career. But before accepting the inevitable move to acting, Chris worked in a number of other jobs. At the age of 18, the oil industry was booming and Chris spent a summer working for Dome Petroleum in the Beaufort Sea. The vast power and beauty and harsh realities of survival made a lasting impact on him. After his sojourn in the awesome frozen north, Chris sold cars and formed Frontier Productions with is brother. Frontier Productions oranized the Sum Fun outdoor rock concerts around London. Eventually, he accepted a position selling health insurance for his father's firm, London Life. As a gift to his fans Chris made his first album called Tourmaline (The cover is the background) which he plays, sings songs that he wrote himself. It's a wonderful album for all music lovers.

What Colleen Loucks, Chris Potter's agent since 1988, remembers most from her first meeting with him was his extraordinary confidence. Confident, genuine and charming: those three words come up repeatedly when people speak of meeting Potter for the first time. Once he decided to become a professional actor, he quickly landed a role in the pilot for a Canadain Broadcast Company comedy series,"Coming and Going", with Louis Del Grande. The series never aired and the "dark period" began. During his early career, Potter made numerous commericals, both appearing on-screen and as voice overs, including a popular Nautilus ad. He was bets known in his early career for his role for three seasons on the CBC-TV series,"Material World". During a period in 1989-90, Potter went to Los Angles, California on the advice of his agency, a process known to all actors as "shopping", but soon he returned to his hometown of London. Returning home is very common for Canadian actors who are very often homesick in the truly foregin land of Los Angles. Chris, however, continued to act as the consummate professional doing whatever his career required. By the year of 1991, Potter was hailed as the "Canadian Costner", had a lucrative contract for a national Wrigley's gum commercial and a 5-year contract with the CBC. The determination and optimism was an offer from the Disney channel for a part in a series filmed in Virgina, U.S.A. which would have disrupted his personal life. After trying out for a show called Forever Night and getting turned down he soon found another part to play on a show called Kung Fu:The Legend Continues. He got the part of the hot shot cop Peter Caine. Peter Caine is the son of Shaolin priest Kwai Chang Caine and great-grandson of the Kwai Chang Caine of the original series, Kung Fu. After an attack on the temple where they live, Peter and Kwai Chang each believe the other dead. Peter is sent to an orphanage, where he is eventually placed in the foster home of Police Captain Paul Blasidell, and Kwai Chang begins wandering the land. Years later they are reunited and begin rediscovering their relationship while helping others. Potter had watched the orginial Kung Fu. The role required Potter to learn martial arts. The series lasted 4 seasons, dubbed into at least 6 different languages and shown in over 20 countries world-wide. Concurrent with filming KF:TLC, Potter became the voice of the character Gambit on the animated-series, X-Men. Potter also made a guest appearance in the syndicated series, Lonesome Dove: The Outlaw Years in which he played a psychotic grifter. He did a movie called The Waiting Game based on the best selling novel by Jayne Ann Krantz. He did a wonderful job of playing Adrian Saville. Trust me you have to see the movie to believe me.

In 1996, Potter was signed to take over the lead role on the sexy, racy cop show Silk Stalkings on the USA Network. Unfortunatly, the original replacments proved very unsuccessful. Enter Potter. Potter plays sexy police detective Tom Ryan who's recently divorced after seven very stormy months of marriage-to his new police partner. Within a handful of episodes, Potter and his new partner, Janet Gunn, proved a hit and the ratings rose causing USA Network to order a full season of shows. The series, shot in beautiful San Diego as a stand-in for Palm Beach, provided Potter with greater exposure and access to the Los Angles industry.

Chris Potter likes to keep busy and active. To the delight of his fans, Potter frequenty makes personal appearances in accessible venues, often for charities. He is an active member of the Celebrity All-Star Hockey Team and has played in celebrity golf tornaments for charites such as the Canadian Cancer Society. He is a prominent guset at conventions of fantasy televsion and movie fans where a very large number of Potter's fans are guarenteed to attend.

The Celebrity All-Star Hockey Team is an amatuer hockey group composed of members from the entertainment industry who gather for assorted exhibition games. Chris potter first came into contact with the team in 1992 while auditioning in Los Angles. At this time Potter had appeared for three seasons in the Canadian sitcom, Material World; unfortunatly this wasn't a recognized show in the U.S. Fortunatly, Kung Fu: The Legend Continues came out and the pilot was launched. He was later accepted on the team. According Potter this is a dream come true for and he gets to travel around the country doing what he does best; playing the sport of hockey. In 1996, the Celebrity All-Star Team tried a differnt approach. They traded their hockey skates for inline rollorblades. That's pretty unusual because your used to watching hockey players use ice skates not rollerblades. That was pretty interesting being a hockey fan my self. The Celebrity All-Star Hockey took part in the NHL Breakout '96 in Santa Monica, Ca. This is where I saw Chris play hockey for the first time besides seeing him on live TV. It was funny. The Celebrities siuted Potter with the imfamous helmet cam. If you watch the game on comedy Central, like I did, all the shots are curtisy of Potter vision (that's what his fans call it!). I saw him skate through an obscale course which included the red carpet treatment, very bad but funny scripts, and many other funny things. I had a great time seeing Chris play a sport that he loves to play on Comedy Central. I would love to see him play hockey live and in person! He is really good and he seems to enjoy it very much!

Chris Potter has been in a number of magazines such as Spectrum, ONSAT, TV Plus, TV Guide for both Kung Fu and also Silk Stalkings, Entertainment Weekly, and many others. He has also been on numerous talk shows such as Hard Copy, and Canada's own Dini Petty and also made a guset appearance on the GABEARU show which is in Vancouver, B.C. Canada. A lot of people love him very much (myself included), and I hope he will continue to play hockey, act, and sing his wonderful music for his wonderful fans. As for a final note, I would like to thank The Chris Potter Pages for the wonderful animated gif. I would also like to thank them for the use of the Biography. Without that this page would never had been possible. I would like to thank The Chris Potter Picture Pages for the wonderful wav file of Chris singing from the episode Appearances(Silk Stalkings) and also for the wonderfuls pictures and still shots. On another final note: Chris will be in two magor movie pictures called "The Shrink is In" also starring Courtney Cox and David James Elliot. The other is called "Rockets Red Glare"
