Basic Info:

When he was a kid he got into a lot of trouble with the law, but he managed to turn his life around. He worked at several jobs, saving up enough money to attend college. While in college he became involved in acting and quickly progressed from univeristy plays to summer stock. His first proffessional debut was in 1963, in "Showboat." Between 1962-1978 he appeared in eighty plays and thirty films and television show and over two hundred radio and TV commericals.

The Dukes Of Hazzard:

Ben was living in Rutledge Georgia, when he heard the Dukes. He went to the audition in some old clothes, sleevless shirt and baseball cap . . . a common sight to see "Cooter" wearing just this. He played a crazy good ol' boy and was cast from that.

After the Dukes:

Ben became a politian, a democrat and was a representive for Georgia. He lost to Newt Grinwich, who ran smear campagians agaisnt Ben, comparing him to Cooter, though I ask who would you vote for? Some like Cooter would stood up for what was right or someone like Newt?
