Father MacAnally

In some respects, Fr Mac is more of a traditional priest than Fr Clifford. In his fifties, he is of the old school where priests were respected no matter what and the church was always right. However, Fr Mac is not above a little corruption - nothing serious - he makes sure that his best interests are looked after, usually with the help of Brian Quigley. Fr Mac is not a fan of Peter's 'liberation theology'.

Siobhan Mehigan (pronounced 'Shiv-aun Mea-hi-gan')

Siobhan is the village vet who spends every spare moment proping up the bar in Fitzgerald's with her drinking pals, Padraig and Brendan. She is unmarried, but her relationship with Brendan is not always as clear as it should be. In this present series, Siobhan sees her life take a sudden and unexpected turn.

Brendan Kearney

Brendan is the most popular schoolteacher in the country if this series is to be believed! He is the cultured one in BallyK, blessed with the gift of being able to hold an audience of rowdy children captive with his every word. Also unmarried, he has had the odd daliance with Siobhan. Hobbies include crossword puzzles and drinking stout!

Padraig (pronounced 'Por-ick)O'Kelly

Padraig O'Kelly owns the local garage but has ideas of something more refined for himself. In the last year he ahs tried his hand at being an author and a journalist and, although his play was a roaring success, his journalism relied more on conning churchgoers than investigative skill. He has one son, Kevin. When not at the garage, he can usually be found propping up the bar in Fitzgerald's.

For the series, Ballykissangel is played by the village of Avoca in County Wicklow, Ireland. A tiny village set against a mountain side, Avoca boasts some of the most beautiful scenery in the world including the point of the Meeting of the Waters written about by the poet Thomas Moore, the Waters being the rivers Avonmór and Avonbeag.
