An Alternate Universe Guide To The Multiple Alternate Universe Storyline, 'The Infinite Paths'

By Rob Morris

Note : Obviously, I did not create nor do I own the vast majority of the characters depicted in 'TIP'. I claim ownership only to the framework. Also, when an AU was revisited, it shall not be listed again.

By Chapter :

Prologue -

1. Starting Over Universe, created by Rob Morris, in which James T. Kirk lives, but Jean-Luc Picard dies, at the end of 'Generations'.

2. ST Canon - The events of 'Star Trek : First Contact'

3. A world resembling that of one of the Au's depicted in 'Q-Squared' by Peter David, in which Wesley Crusher died as a boy, leading to the breakup of his parents' marriage.

4. In a TNG episode, Worf bounced through countless alternate realities, and in one of them, encountered a Wesley who had apparently never gone to The Academy, and had made Lieutanant by that point. In this case, the Worf Wesley encountered was from his home reality.

5. The TNG episode 'Yesterday's Enterprise', in which the UFP and Klingon Empire were at war.

6. The Ancient Destroyer Universe, created by Rob Morris. Defined by a vast number of events. Chiefly, that Peter Kirk is the son of James, and married to Saavik, who in this is the daughter of Spock. Together, they must end the threat posed by King Ghidorah, who in ancient times killed the being who would have evolved into Godzilla, his natural enemy.

7. Unknown - Canon-type, because Peter has two brothers, and James is CO of Starfleet Ops in 2272. However, it cannot be canon, since canon-PK was born in 2260, not 2255 as in AD.

8. Canon - ST2: The Wrath Of Khan - in which Saavik did indeed cry at Spock's funeral.

Note : In the relative timeframe of this storyline, Peter has still not spoken to Jim about his parentage, and Saavik is only very vaguely aware that Spock is her father.

9. 'Our Earth' in which Wesley finds he is actor Wil Wheaton, assaulted by a fan and spoken to by fellow TNG alumnus Marina Sirtis.

10. AD-like 'Perfect World'. Peter and Saavik come aboard The original Enterprise, albeit one which has children, ala TNG. Their fantasy of growing up together and with their fathers has come true. Mentioned are the worlds of the Profic Novels 'Vulcan's Heart', 'Sarek', and a few others. Also, Peter entered a canonical world in which Picard brought back Jim's body after 'Generations'.

Chapter One -

Many convergent Universes - I wrote a story called 'Nicked', in which Tom Paris ( RD Macneill) meets with his TNG alumnus cousin Nicholas Locarno ( RD Macneill). This is set after that story, called 'Nicked'.

Many CU - TNG episode 'Q-Pid', albeit interrupted by Q's sudden departure.

Marvel Universe - After the TNG/X-Men story, 'Second Contact'. Those events did not happen though, to the Wes Crusher in this storyline.

The Never Ending-Battle Universe, created by Rob Morris - An alternate universe in which M*A*S*H* is a focal point in world/galactic history, and the characters from many other shows, especially Sci-Fi shows, have deep and varying connections with the 4077th crew. Walter 'Radar' O'Reilly is a Highlander-type Immortal, and protege to Duncan Macleod, after the death of Richie Ryan. This story is set well after 'There Can Be Only Radar', 'Methos Is Doomed', 'The Demon's Ride', and 'The Reluctant Chaperones'.

The 4*0*7*7* Universe, created by Rob Morris - A non-sci-fi AU in which all the major MASH characters inhabit the camp from beginning to end. Lt. Col. Blake, for example, is second-in-command to Col. Potter.

Chapter Two -

4077, again - Noteworthy because Wes and Radar discuss an unseen previous encounter.

M*A*R*P* - Mobile Army Racial Purifier - In the TNEB/SO Universe, this is a death camp in the Korea of 1952, featuring 'Mirror Universe' versions of the crew of MASH 4077th. Hawkeye is the ruthless Commander Pierce, Trapper John the thuggish security chief, Margaret Chief Experimenter. Through a bizarre series of events, Hitler became US President in 1933, initiating his new order that sets the stage for the events in 'Mirror, Mirror', the ST:TOS episode. --- RM

J*L*A* - A Justice League amalgam with the characters of MASH, written mostly for fun. --RM

MASH Post-War Novels, created by MASH creator Richard Hooker, and about as weird as it gets ( Yes, that's me saying that ;)! )

Lost In Space - Not precisely an alternate universe to the LIS TV series, so much as an extrapolation of what came later. Partially based on Bill Mumy's comic book series of the early 90's. Smith was beginning to mature, but in many respects was as bad as ever. Robot's comedic personality was removed, but I put it back in. No Will/Penny sexual relationship was hinted at, or mentioned. But both characters showed stress and angst over being alone as they were. Also, their earlier sibling tensions had evaporated, but that was likely maturity as much as anything else.

Chapter Three -

Highlander Movie 1 Canon - Although it is unclear whether Radar is meeting a Kurgan who has yet to face Connor Macleod, or one who has defeated him.

Dark MASH - Featuring a ruthless version of Immortal Henry Blake. It is possible that Radar can beat him because this one gets by training and then betraying proteges.

Canonical AU - Saavik is placed into Valeris' role in Star Trek VI. As many fans know, Valeris was, in some drafts, originally Saavik.

Mirror Universe Au, 2334 - The usual MU corruption, set inbetween TOS and TNG.

LIS Movie, 2058 - No offense meant to the young actress who played Penny. The humor merely compares a 1997 sensibilty with a 1965 one, appearance-wise.

Sunshine - A short-lived 1975 series starring Bill Mumy. ( Don't ask )

Twilight Zone - Episode, 'Its A Good Life' - Probably the scariest episode. This Au takes the attitude that Anthony would eventually end up alone, despite his powers.

Chapter Four -

Japanimeopolis - Where all the characters of Japanese anime' exist side by side. Some are still active, like The Dirty Pair and Project A-Ko. Some, like Dragonball, are obviously set after most of their great battles were done. The Sailor Scouts have obviously not responded well to their Negaverse foes being gone. Their fate, by the way, is only meant in fun. They will still find love by daylight and fight evil by moonlight---they may just wear pants from now on.

Any ST-Canon Type Universe - Peter fights Khan's minions, no clue as to what reality its in.

Bizarro Highlander - Featuring The Four Horsemen Of The Genesis, Kurgules, Cassandra, Warrior Princess, and the evil M'k'ld Clan From Lowland Caledonia. They are Conqueror Mkld, Dunnking Mkld, Amandsto, and Wretched Ryon.

Babylon 5 ( AU ) - A B5-type Universe, resembling the Tv show but obviously differing on the odd event. In the 'Starting Over' series, it is later revealed that Alfred Bester's encounter with Wesley caused him to take Chekov's place in the STU. ( Difficult to do, since the actors who portray Chekov and Bester look nothing alike ;) (; )

DC Multiverse ( Au ) - Peter encounters a version of the Anti-Monitor, the nigh invincible villain who destroyed and redefined the world of DC Comics. He is then eaten by Ghidorah, showing there is a pecking order.

Veridian 3 - Canon; Death Of James Kirk

Veridian 3 - Starting Over; After death of Jean-Luc Picard.

Veridian 3 - T*R*E*K* Canon - created by Paul Gadzikowski, a MASH/ST amalgam, and the inspiration for J*L*A*. Same as ST Canon, except JTK is Hawkeye Pierce ( Alan Alda ) and JLP is Trapper John, MD ( Pernell Roberts ).

Veridian 3/Alpha Centauri 3 - A Lost In Space/ST amalgam, with John Robinson as JTK, Don West as JLP, Doctor Smith as Soran, and a reality-hopper named Will Crusher.

Veridian 3 - An odd merged reality, in which all the previous Captains survived, amidst much confusion.

After Me, The Ancient Destroyer Universe - A T*R*E*K*/AD amalgam in which Peter Kirk is Paul Pierce, nephew/son of Enterprise Captain Hawkeye, stepson of CMO Margaret Houlihan, and older half-brother of Blake Pierce, who has no other T*R*E*K* existence. He is married to Saavik, who is T'Maxine Klinger, daughter of Reliant Captain Max Klinger and Soolik ( Soon-Lee, once played by TNG/DS9 alumnus Rosalind Chao ). This storyline most pointedly does not fit into Paul Gadzikowksi's notes.

Chapter Five -

AD Universe - Somehow, Wesley bypasses the anti-chroniton barrier surrounding the AD Universe, but is prevented from disrupting Peter Kirk's timeline by Istannor's character of Jean Little.

Land Of The Lost, 1970's version - Not sure how Will and Holly ended up alone, but since there never was a 'real' last episode, who can really say? Plus, they were the only sci-fi sibs I could find with fates similar to Penny and Will.

Flowers In The Attic - Created by VC Andrews. This story influenced the W/P storyline. The Robinsons' intervention makes this an AU, as the mad grandmother is defeated early.

Lost In Space, 2005 ( Timeline Split ) - Saavik's intervention allows Robot to survive, as revealed later.

AD Universe - In this, 'The Vulcanian Expedition' was used to try and ascertain the fate of a Vulcan colony called 'Lesser Vulcan', or 'Vulcania'.

'Enterprise Awakened' AU, created by Kevin Johnston. This scene was not based on Kevin's notes, which I have not read in any event. Good story, in which reality is threatened by Romulan treachery.

Starting Over AU, Pre-Generations.

The Never Ending Battle Universe - The events of the 1999-based Godzilla movie, 'Destroy All Monsters'. In this AU, Tokyo is about to weather a battle between Gojira Gaijin ( 1998 version ) and Gojira Shin ( Classic Godzilla )

MUSH - A horrible, awful unofficial cartoon version of MASH, and I'm being kind when I say this.

'We Have A Band Movie' Au. Best not to ask, based on silly 60's band pictures.

Star Wars - An AU chiefly made by the live capture of Vader and The Emperor on Endor, and Han growing suspicious of the Jedi twins.

Japanimeopolis - The other Saavik, sister of The Doctor ( Doctor Who ) is the creation of DW/ST fan Paul Gadzkowski.

Chapter Six -

TNG - An AU set after 'Journey's End', which may or may not be in the 'Starting Over' Universe. Ex : The USS Hood was not the ship equipped with an illegal, experimental cloaking device.

AD Universe - In this, Sarek is dying 100 years earlier, but not from Bendii Syndrome. Rather, it was caused by the extreme-long-term carriage of his parents' katras from Vulcania, not discovered until 2278 ( TIP takes place in 2285, relative time ). Unlike Bendii, only Sarek's emotional control is slowly being lost, not his coherence and memories. Oddly, this has helped him to better be able to raise the young Champions, both of whom at times call him 'Father'.

Strange ST World - In this, a female counterpart and version of Captain Kirk married Mister Spock in 2265, and here Peter and Saavik are their twin children. Hope the folks aren't at home.....

Strange MASH Au - No biggie. Radar is CO, and Henry Blake a green corporal. Extrapolate the rest, at your leisure.

LIS Oddities - In the LIS Universe shown here, The J2 was developed from alien tech recovered in 1987, that being the pod carrying the Alpha Centauran children adopted by John and Maureen Robinson and named Penny and Will. Also, a group of MST-type monster movies are described. They are created by Tohdaeii ( Toho Pictures makes Godzilla; Daeii makes Gamera ), and feature many fights of Gamera vs . Emperor Ghidorah ( King Ghidorah is a Godzilla foe, a nod to the fact that in the ADU, Godzilla was killed in prehistoric times ).

Also, Maureen Robinson describes a version of the Star Trek TV/Movies that features Saavik as a true regular character, played by six different actresses. ( Kirstie Alley and Robin Curtis are the only two here; Also described are the late Persis Khambatta ( Ilia in ST:TMP ), Kim Catrall ( Who was cast in the role of Valeris in ST6, but at one time was written as Saavik ), Shelley Long ( Whose relation to Kirstie is rather Duh ), and Phoebe Cates, a now-retired actor whose face and form I've often thought of for the AD-Saavik. Problem is, she doesn't quite fit the bill for a self-percieved ugly duckling.

Lastly, if I ever do the backstory to this LIS world, I'll decide then whether Ghidorah exists there.

Chapter Seven -

TNEB Uni - My best guess is, Wes can only return the Kirks to the moment he took them from, due to the Anti-Chroniton interference from King Ghidorah. Small problem for future PK/Saav/MASH story : The Kirks powers derive from a mammalian version of The Godzilla Cell. The Pierces powers come from The Ghidorah Cell, though they have shaken off its inherent evil. Another fight is almost inevitable.

Lastly, we have a TNEB-U appearance by a J*L*A* character, the Radar/Flash 3.

Merged Post-Generations Reality - Talk about The Captains' Table....or don't.

T*R*E*K*/AD Amalgam - The Cycle Begins Again......

It is well known that I, Rob Morris, created all of these characters, who were stolen from me before I was born. ( Lawyers Breathe; It was a joke )

This AU guide is done, and is to be followed by a powers and abilities guide, then an official parody.
