the prairie house is back! with 4 shows planned so far. none of the shows (except for the first) are filled so if youve got a band and want to jump on one of the dates let me know. the first of the four is a benefit for the prairie house featuring chicago's johanns face records. the second is with
the red + the black an amazing brooklyn, new york based indie band. the third show is with athens, georgia punk/hardcore group exit 86. the last show on the list is one of chicago's finest, the irish folk-punk group the tossers. heres the list:

prairie house founder matt eberlin returns from indiana with his new band step softly, ghost. also from indiana is the dark dance combo lenore syndrome, they bring the synth/scream sound better than anyone. with their biggest tour days behind them they return to the midwest crashed van and all. if you missed them last time, see them. also central illinois' 100 martyrs of democracy featuring the drum and bass section from t.r. the show will start at 8:00. have agood summer and dont blow your hands off tonight.

schools out for summer! alice cooper knows his shit. though it sounds like super fun time, summer is boring. i bet you cant wait for the next prairie house jam. its this saturday, june 1st with motion city soundtrack (modern radio records), everybody uh oh, (arborvitae records) and the braves. this show is going to rock. three awesome bands, one tiny basement!

the semester is ending, tests are coming, and the summer is nearing. im not surre how many people will be sticking around this summer but i assume that the population will all but dissappear, but the prairie house abides. those of us who will be here for part of the summer have at least two things to look forward to: two shows, which are coming together nicely, and here they are:

i hope you all had a safe springfest weekend. i didnt make it to the drunkfest for two reasons: first, because i have no money for the rediculous cover prices, second, i had to wake up at 5:30 am on daylight savings night--hell. if you, like me, didnt get to make it to the all night drink-a-thon i hope some of you got to see "waking life" at the normal theater. its one of the most incredible movies of 2001. i will say no more...heres this weeks show update:

this is my first week back to school, and i imagine for everyone else (except those following the trend of taking off a semester). lets end this horrible first week back in style and go to the prairie house this saturday, the 19th! the bands are as follows: first is charlevoix, now i know that hyping ex-members bands isnt so popular but in this case i cant help myself. charlevoix is ex-members of small brown bike and lovesick, okay? next is annabel lee, theyre the most tight, loud, and rocking bands ever from indiana. next is pontiac from st.louis, mo. and are not far off from the shiner stick. then the prairie houses favorite band, stepleader, of course from bloomington via st.louis. the bands are in no particular order, so get here at 8:00PM. need help getting here, call the prairie house at 828-0765.
listening to the buzzcocks on a nice day is nice! as our winter is looking up to be snowless, that gives you more of a reason to come to prairie house shows! it's warm, there's no snow or ice, so get your butt out here! my "goodbye" show will be a blast, so make sure to come out to that. here's all upcoming shows as of right now:

good news bad news -- bad news first: gods reflex had to cancel on tonight's show due to unforseen circumstances. they've promised to come back as soon as possible though. good news: halogen blue and strangers as heroes are still playing. the show is still at 7pm, but now it only costs $3! you can't beat that!

hope everyone had a good thanksgiving. after nearly a year of living here and setting up almost three dozen shows, i'm moving on. i'll be done with college soon and will be moving back to rockford, illinois to mooch off my parents for the time being. anyway, i'll still be here through the end of december, but the prairie house will need a new roommate after the new year. if you think you've got what it takes, email matt at res04re6@gte.net. obviously, i will no longer be booking shows here. i think one of my roommates is going to step up, but i am not 100% sure, so i'll post more on that when i have spoken more with him. anyway, there's still a bunch of upcoming shows that you should know about. peep the list now:
