(2/9) Press Release!!
THIRD RAIL/HOLLYWOOD RECORDS TO RELEASE GOO GOO DOLLS' EGO,
OPINION, ART & COMMERCE IN APRIL.
Collection Features Songs From Six Previously Recorded Albums.
This coming April, Third Rail/Hollywood Records will release
EGO, OPINION, ART & COMMERCE by multi-platinum recording
artists the Goo Goo Dolls, to Europe, South America, Southeast
Asia, South Africa and Australia. Comprised of remixes of
previously released recordings, the album offers to overseas
fans some of the group's best loved songs, and will introduce
a whole new international audience to the works of a band that
Melody Maker once dubbed "the messiest pop-rockin' geniuses
ever spawned by Buffalo."
EGO, OPINION, ART & COMMERCE is a distinctly diverse collection
of original songs from a band whose limitless musical stylings
will stand the test of time. Songs were selected from the
group's six critically acclaimed albums, GOO GOO DOLLS, JED,
HOLD ME UP, SUPERSTAR CARWASH, A BOY NAMED GOO and DIZZY UP THE
GIRL, all recorded between 1987 and 1998. Every song has been
remixed and remastered and represents the Goo Goo Dolls unique
flair for combining power punk guitar-driven rock with melodic
pop hooks, a reputation that has established them as one of the
biggest success stories of the last decade. Songs like "Girl
Right Next to Me," "Burnin' Up," "Name" and "Bulletproof"
attest to founding members, guitarist John Rzeznik and bassist
Robby Takac's versatility as songwriters and demonstrates how
the trio, which includes drummer Mike Malinin, has evolved
musically since forming in upstate New York in the mid-
eighties.
Frequently performed favorites like "Two Days in February"
and "Lucky Star" are highlights at Goo Goo Dolls concerts, and
the audience's response to those and other previously recorded
songs, encouraged the group to enter the studio to review their
collected works. "Making this record was like looking at a
bunch of photo albums from high school…so wild, all of these
bizarre memories came rushing back," explains Takac. "Such a
long time had passed since we'd even gone back and listened to
the early records. This was a great opportunity for us to
introduce to the rest of the world some of the things we did in
the United States in the 80's and early 90's. All those records
lead us to our current situation and we had a blast putting
this one together."
In 1995, after years of rigorous non-stop touring, success was
bestowed upon the Goo Goo Dolls with the release of their fifth
album A BOY NAMED GOO. The group received national recognition
when almost a year after the album's release, they had their
first major hit with "Name." When "Name" reached No.5 on the
Billboard Hot 100 chart, the band was able to perform to larger
audiences, and gained much needed national exposure with
performances on television programs like the Late Show with
David Letterman and the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. In 1998,
the group's compellingly addictive ballad "Iris" appeared on
both the soundtrack to the film CITY of ANGELS and on the
band's sixth release, DIZZY UP THE GIRL. "Iris" went on to
break radio airplay records, reaching the No. 1 spot on six
separate Billboard charts. To date, DIZZY UP THE GIRL has sold
over four million copies worldwide. The massive success
of "Iris" and four other hits from the album, "Slide," "Black
Balloon," "Dizzy" and "Broadway," brought critical raves and
propelled the band to stardom. "Iris," "Slide," "Dizzy,"
and "Black Balloon" accumulated over a million plays at radio
stations across the country, and "Iris" and "Black Balloon"
garnered several GRAMMY nominations.
For the past two years the Goo Goo Dolls have toured extensively
throughout the United States and have earned an enthusiastic
international following as well. They have played to audiences
in England, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands and
Australia, where DIZZY UP THE GIRL reached double platinum
status. In December of 1999, the Goo Goo Dolls performed for
thousands of U.S. military personnel in Spain, Italy, Germany
and Bosnia, and escaped serious injury in a plane crash after
performing on board the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy in
the Mediterranean.
This past July, googoodolls.com was re-launched as the official,
artist-operated band website. The group takes a hands-on
approach in running the site, offering users the opportunity to
communicate with band members and other fans. "The Daily Goo"
features daily correspondence directly from the Goo Goo Dolls
and is the inside source for news and updated information on
the group. Fans can hear unreleased music and enter contest
giveaways to win Goo Goo Dolls autographed band memorabilia,
guitars and one of a kind items. Tee shirts, CD's, jewelry and
posters are also available through the website. googoodolls.com
will provide up to the minute details and information on the
release of EGO, OPINION, ART & COMMERCE..
The Goo Goo Dolls are signed with Hollywood Records for the
world outside North America and Japan. Hollywood's
International's licensees include Edel Records for Europe and
UK, Festival Records for Australia/New Zealand, SONY Music for
Southeast Asia, SUM Records for Latin America and Gallo Records
in South Africa.
(12/5) Hey everybody! It's the happiest day of the year!
No, it's not Christmas...it's JOHN'S BIRTHDAY! Our beloved
John Joseph Theodore Rzeznik turns 35 today! Happy Birthday,
John! Break out the cake and presents, all!
In all the excitement (lol), I didn't have time to get my new
"secret page" up for you guys. But, now you can be in suspense
til Friday, when it debuts. Stay tuned!
(12/3) Happy December everyone! Only 21 shopping days til
Christmas, don't forget...I know all of you watched the VH1 My
Music Awards, right? Very good. So, you all know that our guys
lost the "givin' It Back" award to Limp Bizkit. That's ok. We
All know who REALLY won in our hearts! But, to appease you,
here's a GREAT shot of the guys arriving at the show on Thursday.
Don't forget that Tuesday is JOHN'S BIRTHDAY!
(11/27) Hi! A bit of Goo news I heard a week ago, never posted.
Sorry! The guys will be playing at the House of Blues in Las
Vegas for New Year's Eve 2001. It's an over 21 show (hmm, wonder
why?) and tickets are going to be available to the public. If
you live around Vegas, try to see the show, it should be great!
Also, don't forget about the VH1 "My Music" Awards this Thursday
night. The guys are up for the "Givin' it back" award, but they
are in last place. If you haven't voted yet, go to www.vh1.com
and cast your vote! This one will ACTUALLY count!
(11/12) Hey guys--just flipping through the channels and what
do I find? Our man, John Rzeznik, on MTV's Choose or Lose
Campaign WrapUp. From what I saw (and taped--I'm a quick draw!)
he is on for the last 15 mins of the 30 min show. From what my
TV Guide says, it will reair Sunday night/Monday morning at 4 AM.
Of course, when I looked in the guide to find the show, it wasn't
listed for the time that I watched it, so who knows? If you're
a psycho fan like me, keep your eyes peeled for the show the rest
of the weekend. FYI--John looked hot.
(11/10) Goo Press Release: November 6, 2000--Goo Goo Dolls Win
Radio Music Award for "Artist of the Year--Pop Alternative
Radio"
Warner Bros. recording artists the Goo Goo Dolls won the award
for "Artist of the Year - Pop Alternative Radio" at the Radio
Music Awards this past Saturday, November 4th. Band members
John Rzeznik, Robby Takac and Mike Malinin were on hand to
accept the award, presented live on ABC-TV from the Aladdin
Hotel in Las Vegas.
The Radio Music Awards are based on radio airplay and voted on
by 600 radio programmers and music directors around the
country. The award acknowledges the success of the band's
triple-platinum-plus album, DIZZY UP THE GIRL, and its hit
songs "Iris," "Slide," "Dizzy," "Black Balloon,"
and "Broadway." Last year, "Iris" won a Radio Music Award
for "Pop Song of the Year."

(11/6) Oh my god! I hope NONE of you guys missed the Radio
Music Awards on Saturday, because our guys picked up a major
honor--Artist of the Year, Pop Alternative Radio. How cool
is that? I had taped the show and when I saw it, I could
barely watch the nominees for the award--and fast forwarded to
the speech and saw them on stage...then I went back and watched.
They were so genuinely surprised, which was sweet to see. They
were all so cute up there, John was even shaking as he gave the
speech. This was their first major GROUP award ever (John got
props for his writing earlier this year at the ASCAPS, remember?)
So--major deal, hope you all saw it!
By the way, just as the Goos do on their site daily, I want to
remind everyone to get out and vote on the 7th--it's the only
way you can have any right to complain about our country--if you
actually try to do something about it! GO VOTE!
(11/3) Hey! Just a reminder--catch the Goos on the Radio Music
Awards on Saturday, November 4th, on ABC. Check your local
listings for times. The guys are up for an award, and are also
presenting, so we're sure to get a little Goo fix that day!
Don't miss it!
Also, check out the Goos official site at www.googoodolls.com
for all the latest news--and a new "Photo Caption" contest!

in St. Louis between the Vice President and Governor George W.
Bush. The gates will open at 11:30 am and the Goo Goo Dolls
will perform shortly after that time. Band members, John
Rzeznik, Robby Takac and Mike Malinin have also accepted an
invitation to attend the debate.
The Goo Goo Dolls recently attended several events surrounding
the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles. The group
performed at the GRAMMY Foundation's reception honoring
Democratic Leadership and at a celebration in honor of Young
Democrats, hosted by Karenna Gore Schiff.
The Goo Goo Dolls latest release DIZZY UP THE GIRL has been on
the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart for two years and has sold

"Broadway" have accumulated over a million plays at radio.

most performed song of 1999. "Iris," originally written for the
soundtrack to the film City of Angels has received numerous
awards, including "Pop Song of the Year" (WB Radio Music
Awards) and was the most played song of 1998 according to
Airplay Monitor.

week.
(9/21) Hi! I wanted you to know that I posted Part 1 of my
"Goo Weekend" story for you! Go to My show and check it out!
Part 2 to come in a few days!
(9/18) Happy birthday, Dizzy Up The Goos!! I can't believe
it's been a year since this lil' shindig started up. I've had
blast getting your emails and updating the Goo news for you.
Over 9,200 of you guys have checked this out, and that's more
than I ever expected, so thanks! I had hoped to have a big
page up with my concert experiences and photos, but it's taking
MUCH longer than expected to type it all up! There's so much
to say! so, I'd rather update in a day or two with that, than
make a quick update with it, and have it suck. So, for now,
you'll have to live with the anticipation of what's ahead!
By the by, know what John, Mike, and Robby have been up to this
weekend? Well, let's see.....Mike ran in a trilation (his celeb
team placed 5th--way to go!)....and John and Robby decided to
JUMP OUT OF A PLANE! Guys! What the hell? LOL. You gotta
stay in one piece for us. Thankfully, Robby said all is well
on the Daily Goo today. Stay tuned tomorrow!
(9/6) Hey guys! Man, what a weekend I had--two Goo shows in
two days! Yay me! I spent Saturday riding up to Syracuse, NY
for 5 hours for nosebleed seats. But, what a show. More on that
later. Then, after a night in a seedy motel, a four hour car
ride, and hardly any food, I arrived at the PA State Fair.
There, a met up with the COOLEST Goo fan. (Hi Linda!) She
helped my friend and I get RIGHT UP FRONT for the show. Only
a few layers of people in front of us. There are so many
stories from that night. Look for a complete page on my weekend
of Goo up by tomorrow night.
By the way--in the tabloids: In the September 12th issue of
"The Globe", there is an aricle about John's "girlfriend",
the Bold and the Beautiful's Adrienne Frantz. It contains a
story about her being attacked by a crazy fan of John's. For
us die hard John lovers, it's a big laugh. Check it out!
On the subject of Adrienne, I set up a poll to get your
opinion on their relationship. It's not a poll about "How
much I want John" and "How much I hate her for stealing him".
At least, not entirely. So, go to the poll and voice your thoughts.
Also check out the October issue of CosmoGirl for a cool sticker
of the band, as well as a John pic.
(6/28) Press Release!
"Multi-platinum recording artists the Goo Goo Dolls will re-
launch their official band website on Saturday, July 1st.
googoodolls.com has been redesigned and expanded to allow fans
an interactive experience with added graphics and streaming of
video and audio.
Essentially an artist-operated site, googoodolls.com will
feature an exclusive photo gallery and exciting contest
giveaways. In upcoming weeks fans will hear unreleased audio
tracks including live concert recordings. They will have the
opportunity to communicate with band members John Rzeznik,
Robby Takac and Mike Malinin, who will be available for
scheduled chats. Goo Goo Dolls tee shirts, CDs, jewelry,
posters, stickers and other merchandise can be purchased
through the site's store. MTVi, an internet video channel, will

updated news and information source for all band activities,
tour dates, television appearances, downloadable clips,
suggested links and special announcements. "The Daily Goo" will
run contests with giveaways that include autographed Goo Goo
Dolls memorabilia, guitars, tour jackets and one of a kind
items. The band will provide up-to-the-minute details to the
site from the recording studio when they begin work on their
seventh album later this year and a page will be supplied on
the site for mail to be sent to the group. goo goodolls.com is
the only official source for obtaining band information and
lyrics for all six Goo Goo Dolls recordings.
"We've been so busy the last few years, we couldn't really give
the site the attention it deserved," says Goo Goo Dolls bassist
Robby Takac."Now that the Goos official site is reachable at
googoodolls.com, it's nice that we finally have the chance to
be so closely involved with it."
The Goo Goo Dolls sixth album, DIZZY UP THE GIRL has sold almost
four million copies and has been on the Billboard Top 200 Album
chart for 92 weeks. The latest single, "Broadway" is tops at
several radio formats and a video treatment for the song,
written by comedian Bobcat Goldthwait, can be seen on MTV and
VH-1. Four singles off the album, "Iris," "Slide,' "Dizzy"
and "Black Balloon" have accumulated over a million plays at
radio, according to BDS. The Goo Goo Dolls have has been
nominated for four Grammy awards and the group was honored this
past year with songwriting and broadcast performance awards
from ASCAP and BMI."
(5/31) Hey! Hope you all saw the guys on the World Music
Awards last night! They opened the show with "Broadway" and it
sounded really GOOd. A few people have told me that they only
sang, but didn't really play, but I don't know. Later in the
show, John introduced the band Jamiriquia (SP?) He had on a
lime green shirt under a tux jacket, with black leather pants.
Robby looked so cute in his black pants and tux jacket, too. I
couldn't see Mike very well, as usual...come on, get some shots
of Mike, too! He's a part of the band! Have a GOOd day!
(5/28) Sorry that it's been so long, I was lying on the beach
this week. Some GOOd news to tell you:
For those of us in the Philly, PA area, Y100 is doing a Sonic
Session with the guys in a week or two. This is when they have
about 30 Goo fans in a room with the guys to play music and talk.
It should be awesome. Listen on Tuesday for info on how to win
tickets.
Mag News: In the new "Rolling Stone" (Tom Green cover), there
is a short clip on the Goos, about their Supremes performance on
Leno last month. There is a really funny pic of the guys in drag
for the show. It was the first tome I had ever seen John's leg
tattoo (a question mark). It was cool!
Also, John is in the new issue of People, with Dana Carvey on the
cover. There is a picture of him kissing his girlfriend
(friend, date, etc???) at the Emmy awards last Friday. It's
really cute, but, John...don't go kissing her all the time, it's
killing me! LOL. Have a GOOd day!
(5/4) Hey guys! Press Release!!
"GOO DOLLS PERFORMANCES SLATED FOR THE WORLD MUSIC AWARDS FROM
MONTE CARLO AND KIIS-FM's "WANGO TANGO" FROM DODGER STADIUM.
DIZZY UP THE GIRL REENTERS THE TOP 100.

on to perform their hit "Broadway" at "The 2000 World Music
Awards" which will pre-tape on May 10th and will air Monday,
May 29th on ABC-TV (8-10pm ET.) The awards show tapes from The
Sporting Club in Monte Carlo and is presented under the
patronage of His Serene Highness Prince Albert of Monaco.

recording artists Michael Jackson and Mariah Carey, and the

proceeds from ticket sales to the show's taping will be donated
to the Princess Grace Hospital and the Monaco Aide and Presence
Foundation.
The Goo Goo Dolls will perform at radio station KIIS-FM's
annual "Wango Tango" which this year celebrates Los Angeles
County's 150th birthday. The concert, dubbed "Million Dollar
Wango Tango 2000" will be held on Saturday, May 13 at
LA's Dodger Stadium. The Goo Goo Dolls join other artists like
*NSYNC, Sugar Ray, Sisqo and Enrigue Inglesias at the all-day
birthday bash, where a portion of the proceeds from ticket
sales will benefit several LA based charities.
Since the release of the their latest hit "Broadway," the Goo
Goo Dolls album, Dizzy Up the Girl has climbed 56 spots up the
Billboard Top 200 chart, to 99*! Dizzy Up the Girl has sold
almost four million copies to date."
(4/30) Hey! I just watched the Goos on MadTV...What a great
performance! They were right on, playing great and looking
fabulous. John has really taken to wearing those new green
cargos--whenever I see him, he wears them! Robby looked great,
he seemed to be having a good time, and Mike as well. I
couldn't see him very well.
I hope you guys pulled yourselves outta bed yesterday for "Good
Morning America". It was so funny! The guys first did "Slide"
and at the end, a "big" guy got on stage and shook his groove
thing with John! John didn't notice for a sec, til Robby started
laughing, then he looked over. He was like, "Oh yeah baby!" and
he put his arm around the guy. A girl got up and danced with
Robby for a minute, they all seemed to have fun. Did anyone
notice that Mike was not the drummer for the show? He's outta
the country visiting his girlfriend, so the guys had someone
else fill in. Don't worry, Mike'll be back soon--what would we
do without him??
One complaint:
What is it with cutting "Broadway" short?? GMA cut it off pretty
early on, as did "Charmed".
Now that I've mentioned that horrible experience from Thursday
night, can I say how pointless it was? The guys looked great
and all, but, come on. Lip synching? Singing less than half
of "Broadway"? All the lyrics outta order? I really didn't
enjoy the "Charmed performance--as I think you can tell. The
storyline finished up right through the song, and the camera
barely showed the guys.
Well, now that that's off my chest, I feel good. So, I hope
you all got your Goo-Fixes these past few days--although, if you
missed "Charmed", I almost envy you.
To access the Goo newsgroup through Deja News, just follow this
