Interview with Svend, '98. Now Svend is no more in the band, I think

Hi Driller Killer! Welcome in domina’zine! What’s up with you? Do you want to tell us your last tales?
Hi Giuseppe and the Domina'zine readers. Everything´s ok with Driller Killer. Last tales...well, since the release of the Fuck The World album we've been here and there. We did 8 dates in the eastern part of Germany last October under the name Distortion to hell 97, with Tin Pan Alley from Germany. Right after that we did like 20 dates in countries like Holland, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria and Italy (Rome) with a Swedish band called Unleashed. Some weeks ago we went back to Germany and played two shows with Agathocles and Tin Pan Alley, and now we're kind of rehearsing new songs. The band has existed since 93 and have released the Brutalize cd in 93, Total Fucking Hate in 95 (cd) and a 4 track ep in 96...

How can you label your music? Swedish crust?
We started as a punkband and it still is, in every angle. It wasn't until the last record people started to label us as crust. I don't mind that but in my point of view we are a hardcore punk band. We are on which is a side label or whatever to Osmose, which doesn't include any black metal that I know about, they have Disfear, Loudpipes, Dellamorte etc which is more hcpunk or metal I think and yes, it have helped us because they have got quite good distribution compared to we use to have. Our goal is not to get blackmetal heads into our music but if they do, cool.

Now you are on Osmose records, a well know label in the black metal scene... Do you think that this could help you? I mean: have you seen many black-death-metalheads at your gigs since you are on Osmose?
No, even if we had written Dancing Queen it wouldn't sound like Abba anyway... if you know what I mean? Not me either. We use to play some covers of Varukers and Discharge but not lately. But we've recorded a Discharge cover for a Distribute that was supposed to be out last year. Otherwise we play Moderat Likvidation songs but that's no covers because I wrote that material in the early 80's when I played bass in that band.

Are there any songs (of other bands, I mean) that you would like to have written? Do you play any covers live?
You almost got the answer in your question, we don't sound like any of the others, that's why people should buy our records, shirts and shit. Some of us has beeing playing this kind of music since 1980 so the influences we got go way back.

Do you want to give us a good reason to buy your records and not the album of >one-of-the-other-million-Swedish-crust-bands-all-sounding-the-same?

What do you know about Italy? Do you know any Italian bands? Have you ever heard Carmen Consoli?
Pasta, splatter movies (Lucio Fulci ruled R.I.P.), about bands, Raw power, Wretched, Bulldozer, Gholvault Carmen who? We would very much like to play in Italy again so if there's anyone out there into promoting gigs, get intouch!

A lot of people says that you are nazis, Satanist, racist, etc. Do you want to make clear things about this?
It's too old shit to be mentioned now but some people misunderstood some song because we had some sampled speech with A.Hitler on some song that was about the holocaust, but we're definitely not nazis, Satanists, racists anarchists, vegetarians or whatever... we're more like punkrockers...

What do you think about homosexuality? Have you ever had any homosexual experiences? And about the statement that ‘only a man knows as to please another man’?
People can be whatever they choose to be, no homosexual experiences so far, and I'm not open for suggestions. 'Only a man knows...' I don't know about that, do you?

Which is the most extreme sexual experience you had made?
Yeah, some days ago I made a hole in the lawn and tried to fuck the world but I think there's better way to do it.

The most stupid thing you have ever done?
Last year I got myself a scarification in my forehead when I was too drunk or something. The stupid part of it is that I paid a lot to have it removed.

Your future projects?
As I mentioned earlier we're rehearsing for a new record that will be recorded this august we hope. We will also be doing some songs for one or two split ep's, one with a Japanese band in October on MCR Records. We'll do at least one festival here in Sweden this summer and hopefully a tour somewhere in the spring or winter.

Last war cry for the domina’s readers?
