Moni Ritchie has a lush, haunting voice that gives everything she sings on this EP a special gravity and tragedy.

She and her comrades in The Drummed has a penchant for atmospheric, dreamlike music. Please don’t think this means the band puts you to sleep with its arrangements; The Drummed definitely understands the intricacies of multitracking and sonic layers which give the songs extra heft.

Every song on this record feels like the grand finale of a larger album. "Fearless"--the true EP closer--wraps you up in Ritchie’s world of poetic images and contemplative guitars, then grows even more explosive as the band’s intensity reaches its dynamic conclusion.

DRUMMED AT THE TROUBADOUR

Whether it is because of their hilarious "Top 10 List" or their incredible music, Drummed is one of the newest hot bands emerging out onto the music scene. On Friday, May 1st along with the Mary Love, 20 Cent Crush, and Lassie Foundation - Drummed rocked the roof off of the Troubadour. Drummed is made up of three guys and a girl. The girl is Moni Ritchie, lead vocalist and guitarist, who captivates the audience with her beautifully haunting voice. Moni and her friend Tony Scarpa, drummer and synthesizer, co-founded Drummed in the summer of '97. Tony's incredible performance on the drums and synthesizer add the ultimate and final touches to the textured music of Drummed. Bassist and accompanying vocalist, Chris Van Waner, was the third member to join the band in November of '97. Not only does his bass playing blast the songs into the next level of greatness, but his sexy vocals are what adds that extra bit of spice to songs like "Bugs". And in March of '98, the final piece of the puzzle was in place with the addition of Rob Campanella on the guitar. Along with Moni, Tony, and Chris -- Rob evokes the dark, deep beauty that explodes onto the stage and becomes the incredible music that is Drummed. "Drummed is mood altering music with female vocals riding above dark, textured, psychedelic sound, exploring brief encounters of stormy musical mayhem." Remember MONI, the guitarist from the band THIS TRIP? Well, she's featured in a new band called DRUMMED. MONI & Co. play off-center rock, doing their all-original stuff. Songs included "Carla", "Crazy Windy", "Hey Yoooou"[sic], and "Betty Blue". MONI'S singing and guitar playing is as raw and natural as ever.
