The Web is so fuggin' full of rad smack, a kid could spend weeks logged on and drooling all over the keyboard. Below are a few of my favorite drool inducers.

Rad Austin Music (and other Creative) Stuff:

The Texas Showlist is the key to any Texas punk's happiness, so find out who's playing when and where or sit at home like a slug and cry 'cuz you have no friends and nothing to do tonight.

Trail of Dead Is another Austin band whose shows are pretty intense. You never know when the madness and chaos will erupt on stage, but believe me, it will. These are some wild boys with a wild page.

Peek-a-Boo Records You have to take a look at this labrinthine site that Travis built for his rad little record label. There is too much stuff for me to mention it all, but besides the normal pages about the bands on his label, he's put up realaudio and video clips, stuff from the Peek-a-Boo zine (it's memory shall live on in our hearts since we killed all the braincells that would allow it to live on in our memories) and get this...a choose your own adventure story!

the Kiss Offs Winners of the 86 Pounds of Punk "Overall Cutest Dead Band in Austin Award." These kids have the cutest songs, the cutest outfits, and the cutest special effects on stage. Too bad you can't see them ever again.

The Prima Fucking Donnas ....because these freaks can't be hyped enough, they're keyboard gods who will make you pee on yourself if you don't choke to death from laughter first. They kinda moved to Olympia, though, so I guess they aren't an Austin band anymore...

Gene Defcon is a guy who bears a striking resemblance to Otto from the Prima Donnas. I like him only because he has a song with references to missing Austin. Think Prima Donnas but less focused on one sound.

Electric Funland Home of Jay Blazek Crossley, one of the most wacked-out and creative kids I know. He's also my partner in crime in woozyhelmet and Soda Pop Productions. This page has it all: music, poetry, activism, fish...

Keep Monsters Alive What can I say? Toto is my pal and my bandmate. Look at his page and get a glimpse into a very strange, yet somehow cute world.

The Maulies My roommate Amy plays bass for these twee pop goddesses. They've got cute, fun songs about werewolves and being in love with "wussy punk boys."Here's their site.

Standing Still I met Seth and we talked html-web-geek stuff the whole time we hung out. This is his site and it is awesome. The essays here are insightful and intelligent looks at boy self-images, girl rock, politics, veganism, and wonderful topics like that. There is also some beautiful photography and links to other rad Austin stuff. Please, go meet Seth. You'll like him.

The Search for Saturnalia is a central Texas emoesque band that I just heard about.

A Roman Scandal Are three boys who will change the world with their music. Okay, maybe they will just make you dance and smile and then trip on the mic cord cuz Jason is singing in the crowd. You will then get very disoriented by the projections and dirty beats and all the OTC drugs you took and you will start breaking things. Anarchy will ensue, with a nuclear reaction which causes the geometric spread of craziness to all corners of the globe. When the dust settles, the world with enter into state of pure, eternal euphoria.

Music Stuff That's Not From Austin:

Touched By An Anvil is Webly's zine. You will love the punking unicorn.

The Lonely Guys We are playing our first show on the woozyhelmet summer tour with these Houston Nerd Rockers. The Lonely Guys are great, check out their page and relish the fun.

The Super 8 Underground was a great garage distro, but it is all ending. I have to say that the CD comp they just did, called New Wave Explosion, has brought me a new kind of happiness that I've never been able to achieve through other things, like vodka and pens with naked men on them.

House of the Rising Punk lots and lots and lots of resources, ezines, distros, etc. This is a great page y'all, not as comperhensive as the world wide punk, but alot easier to sort through. to get some music and zines that the co-op distros.

The Modest Mouse fanpage will give you the goods on this incredible band: you want photos, they got photos, you want a discography, wonder about their releases no more, you been achin' to hear some minor chords and disco beats, you can get a taste of that too. Issac attacked a friend of mine when MM toured here, but only after the boy was knuckle-headed enough to throw a bottle at the stage. The Chronicle called him a "yokel". It still makes me laugh.

bra!d if you haven't seen these guys play or heard their stuff, you're really missing out. Their rythms will rock your little emo kid body and get yer brain all giddy over their complexity, and the melodies and lyrics will get you right in the gut.

The Secret Stars will make you cry if Karate doesn't first. If you're like me and want even more brain-tingling and throat constricting, then see some related projects here

The Unofficial Daniel Johnston Homepage The fella who did this page is a big fan, so get ready to be a little overwhelmed with all the info and art. There's something about Daniel's music that is unlike anything else, so honest and rickety and raw...

Half Japanese The Fair brothers blew the door open for geek punks everywhere in the late 70s and 80s and Jad is still out there making awesome music. He was in Texas this March recording with Daniel Johnston and my pal Christopher and I had the pleasure of seeing him perform some wonderful rythmic vocal stuff. Okay, stop reading this and just go to the site.

K Records Dub Narcotic and KG made me shake it and Miranda July blew me away when I saw them do an instore in Austin! Wussy punk is all I have left to love. Go to the K site and find out about these people!

The Pulpit is the unofficial Will Oldham page. Listen to some of his songs in Real Audio, find out about his many projects, and rub your eyes in awe.

Insound has stuff from some of the bands I mention here. OH! Go see the video of Trail of Dead in NYC from April 2000. It is under the cinema section. I was at that show! It wasn't nearly as pixelated in real life.

ZINES, ZINE REVIEWS, ZINE RESOURCES, ZINESTERS, ETC

A Zine Co-op from Canada run by a kid named Chad. That's what it's all about, working together to get the good stuff done, supporting eachother's efforts, and putting things together ourselves. Go join the co-op or at least look at his catalog and see if you want to get some of the music and zines they distro.

Crap Head Press Warren Craghead does some of my favorite comics. Journey into his surreal land of thinking boots and depressed candycanes, and you'll know what I mean.

Sugar Egg is my friend Carine's online zine. Get ready for the unexpected.

Action Girl really concise reviews of zines by girls, how to do your own zine, etc

10 Things lots and lots and lots and lots of zine reviews

The Book of Zines Go to the "resource guide" and frolik in the endless plethora of great zine stuff...more than you could choke a chicken with.

Ten Thousand Things The pocket-sized zine is now on the web.

Russell's Pants of Fun Russell is a wild monkey from Houston who I just recently met at a BunnyGrunt show. This kid does some great comics; go see for yourself.

Midget Breakdancing DIgest band photos, a real breakdancing midget, what else do you want?

READ SOMETHING, GET OFF YOUR PUNK ASS, AND THEN WREAK SOME HAVOC( useful links for the anarcho-punk in all of us ):

IndieCenter Jay wants Soda Pop Productions to put out some 7"s, so I've been looking for info on releasing records. IndieCenter is the best resource site I found.

AXXS Links Australian punk link page. Aboriginal People, scary stuff that the US gov't has been developing to use against anarchists, punk music ( get your fill of crust ), vegetarian links, and here's a new one, gardening for the real hard-core vegans out there.

Independent Links DIY, indie, and other underground links, including a huge zine list, resources, etc.

Vegan Straight Edge This is the site I wrote about in 86PoP #2. My personal favorites are the work article and the one about health and food.

Positive Punks Here's a page I just found at random...DIY punks with a page on prisoner rights, vegan recipes, animal rights, etc. Check out the Edinburg Punk Fest Link, I think the kids who did that page are right on in their "ramblings" about what it means to be punk.

Veggie Stuff read some facts on why dropping meat is a good thing, and then hit some links to some cool recipe and info sites.

My Friends:

Memory is a site created by my new pal Dave in Houston. Go meet Dave and read his honest writings about watching a Wonder Years marathon on tv. It's not your typical personal page.

21st Street Student Housing Co-op Land of the Freaks, Home of the Crazed. The coolest co-op in Austin

Amy's Home Page This is my roommate's page. It's really old and out of date. She hates computers and loves her stereo.

GO HOME, MONKEY-KID
