(The 311 Life Story)

Five guys from Omaha kickin it in the big time. 311 was originally started by Nick Hexum and Tim Mahoney. After awhile Mahoney dropped out and left Hexum only with drummer Chad Sexton. They tried to make it big with an R.E.M. styled band called Unity. They went to Los Angeles to hit the big time but it they didn't hit anything. They performed small gigs for small checks and came back to omaha Shit-Out-Of-Luck. They came back and were joined up again by Mahoney and A new guitarist named Jimi Watson who is the bands namesake. The story goes that one night Watson and some friends decided to go skinny dipping. The police came and took him home butt-naked. When the police rang the doorbell Watson's father answered. He simply Yelled to his wife and said "Honey it's for you." The police code in omaha that watson was charged with was a 311-indecent exposure.

Watson was still with 311 when they did there first show opening for Fugazi in '91. But soon after he left. Next Mahoney met P-Nut through a friend of a friend and last but not least SA became the final member. This story is breviated but fills you in on a lot.
