Goddess Corner
A tribute to Gina Gershon, Tori Amos, and the Indigo Girls

Hi all!  This is Kate.  Well, it's been about, oh..  4 years since we've updated this page, and I keep getting remarks like "You should update your page!!"  So I'm going to try to work on it..  Why did I choose now?  Because I'm procrastinating...  I have way too much work to do, and I don't want to do any of it...  So..  here we go!  I'm just going to do some small stuff..  Maybe if I get really ambitious in the near future I'll do a major overhaul or something....  :)
Hi!  I'm Hayley, and welcome to our site.  We have dedicated it to the only REAL goddesses: Gina Gershon, Tori Amos, and Amy Ray and Emily Saliers (the Indigo Girls).  We have cool pics, a few links, bits of music by Tori and the Girls, and opinionated insights from Kate and me.

Gina Gershon
Our Opinions
If it's alright with everyone, I'd like to start with Gina.  Has everyone seen
the movie
BOUND?  If you haven't, God help you.  :)  All kidding aside, I speak from the bottom of my heart when I tell you YOU MUST SEE IT. A person is not whole without having that viewing pleasure.  Being the low-budget film that it is, it did not get the credit it deserved.  FACE/OFF is also an excellent display of her expertise (though her part was not as large as I would have liked). Kate!  You going to back me up?
Yes, I definitely agree with you, Hayley!  While BOUND may not appeal to all, it is definitely a good movie to see!  It incorporates love, sex and violence to make it one of the most intriguing plots you will ever come across!
A slightly different plot twist in this movie is that the sex is between two women.
Gina also stars in This World, Then the Fireworks and Palmetto

Tori Amos
Our Opinions
So, I'm sure that by now most people have heard of Tori Amos..  She came out with her first solo cd in 1991, under the title "Little Earthquakes."  It's a fantastic CD, more "traditional" in nature.  As you go down the list, her CDs get less "traditional," but I think they're all great in their own way.
Kate and I both had the privilege of seeing her on her From the Choirgirl Hotel tour.  I also saw her on her Dewdrop Inn tour.  Both concerts were amazing, let me tell you.  She's a genius.

Indigo Girls
Our Opinions
I got into the Indigo Girls several years ago, and I now own all of their cds.  I did get to see them at Lilith Fair in '97 and also at their concert that same year, as well as at Lilith Fair in '99.  Wow, they were amazing. Their voices fit together so
perfectly.  Amy has a rougher, deeper tone, and  Emily's voice is more sing-songish
and sweet.  Their harmonies give me
chills sometimes!  What would I say if I ever
were blessed enough to meet them?  "Please be my friend."
Right...  Well, Hayl got me into IG a while ago, when I was first introduced to their CD "Swamp Ophelia."  Their earlier CDs are more acoustic, and they become less acoustic in the later ones.  I saw them at Lilith in 97, 98 and 99, and I saw them in November of 99.  They give fantastic concerts.  I recently saw them on their Honor the Earth tour.  It was amazing.  There's nothing like seeing them in concert to remind you why you love them so much.  They're amazing on stage.  It seems as if they're making love through their music.  If you've never seen them, you must.

Well, it's definitely been a while since we created this site.  There are obviously several names we've left off our list of goddesses.  Hayl and I both really got into Ani DiFranco and Sarah McLachlan within the past couple years.  I've also recently become a huge fan of Jonatha Brooke and K's Choice, as well as the (currently Indie) band Framing Amy.  Also, for those poetry fans out there, I would highly suggest Olga Broumas and Chrystos.
Think I'm cool?  Disagree with me?  Send me some email. (Hayley)
