Patrick and Vanessa Doyle
November Ninth, Two Thousand Two

Patrick Doyle and I were married on November 9th at our friends Mark and Melissa's home. It was originally our engagement party with a small gathering of our closest friends. The party had been planned for a few weeks by the time we decided not to wait and spend all the money that was involved in having a bigger wedding (renting a hall, decorating the church, caterer, photographer, all that stuff) so, three days before, we decided since the party was going to be so wonderful (our hosts have a big beautiful home and do catering on the side) we would go ahead and exchange our vows! Our friend Greg, who is also our pastor, was already coming when we asked him to wed us, he agreed to do it. I went and got a gown (for a STEAL), we got him a tux, did the flowers the morning of, and got our license at lunch on Friday. The surprise of it was we didn’t tell anyone that we were going to do this!

Our parents, the pastor, his wife who sang, and friends who are photographer and videographer, and my maid of honor were the only ones who knew! When people were arriving for the cocktail hour, we were there, in our cocktail attire. After everyone (but my mom) had arrived we kind of disappeared upstairs, he was in the guest room getting into his tux, while April and I got into our dresses. After my mom got there, they gathered everyone into the living room in front of the fireplace to have a surprise for us since we weren't around. Once he got all of their attention, he told them that the surprise was on them, and that we were getting married!

Lynne, who is wonderful, learned n two days "Love Song" by Third Day and sang it while Patrick was led by his mom, April followed in a great black dress, and then my brother Brandon gave me away.
