HOPES AND FEARS

When the lights go low
And the curtain comes up
You will be sitting there
Like a whining pup

Why do you fidgit, my love
Is it because of fear
You should try to calm down
There is nothing to worry about my dear

There is nothing there
It is all up in your mind
Let me try and help you
Or are you scared of what you might find

A million lost souls
Whailing out your name
Pointing fingers at you
Giving you the blame

"It's all your fault" they scream
But you cant hear one bit
The screams blew out your ears long ago
Now the bleed because of it

They claw at you with bony hands
Trying to get a grip
Trying to pull you in with them
Be careful not to slip

For if you do slip
You will be lost to all
You will not be able to stand up
And be thought of as tall

You will fall into the black abyss
As black as the darkest night
I now do understand
Why this may give you a fright

You will not become a leader
Like a conductor in a band
I, too, am now scared for you
Cuddle close and hold my hand

Is it these fears that bother you
That are making you a wreck
Hold tight, my love; hold on real tight
Like a vampire clinging to a neck

Down comes the curtain
And on come the lights
And away goes those silly souls
Along with your fears and frights

All that's left is you and me
With all our hopes and dreams
Of a life forever together
Sheltered away from all those screams.
