Ska

Ska started in the late 60's inspired by Jamacan reggae king Prince Buster. Ska slowly developed and styles of clothes came in to fashion to match the music. This fashion consisted of a black suit suit, tie, shoes and hat. Another Ska fashion was baggy trousers which was also the for a song by Madness. The whole Ska cult became more of a way of life than just a music and Ska seamed to be unstoppable. More and more other Ska bands became famous and in the seventies Ska exploded and became bigger than ever. In 1979 Madness released their first single 'The Prince',a tribute to their reggae hero Prince Buster. 'The Prince' peaked in the British charts at number eight and Madness's success story started. Ska slowly died out in the eighties but is now enjoying a small English revival at the beginning of '96.

Madness' Roll In The Ska Cult

Madness invented a rather nifty logo stand during the video of 'Shut Up' which was then featured on one of their many Honda adverts and the album 7

Madness also had their very own walk right back in 1979 which then featured in some of their videos including 'One Step Beyond' and 'Grey Day'. The walk is a sort of conga style walk with something not dissimalar to it on the front of the 'One Step Beyond' album.
