The Story...

The Backstreet Boys are a Florida-based group. AJ McLean, Howie Dorough, and Nick Carter were all talented young men. They had met each other at auditions, and would harmonize together, singing songs by various groups, including Boyz II Men and Color Me Badd. They decided to form a singing group. They went to a man named Lou Pearlman who was starting a record label. He knew someone who knew Kevin Richardson, who was then working at Disneyland. He got Brian Littrell, his cousin, in the group, and the Backstreet Boys were formed, starting their career off opening for local shows put on by Brandy, Jon Secada and En Vogue. They also put on a small national tour.

Though their career didn't take off in the USA, it did overseas and in Canada with their release of "We've Got It Goin' On," "Get Down (You're the One For Me)" and "I'll Never Break Your Heart." But, when "Quit Playin' Games (With My Heart)" was released, it climbed up the US charts and started off their home-country fame.
