There's a Hole in the Ozone Layer and Deadly Cosmic Rays are Getting In Through It!

More About Deadly Cosmic Rays

But why the fuss?

Ozone is a trace gas. Although the concentration of trace gases in the atmosphere may be only a few parts in a million million (parts in 10^12), their presence can have a profound effect on the environment. They do this either by their direct chemical effects or by absorbing radiation in important regions of the electro-magnetic spectrum.

So what can we do?

It is clear that, because chlorine is potentially dangerous to the stratosphere, any unnecessary use of chlorofluorocarbons should be stopped. You can help by checking labels on spray cans to see that chlorine compounds are not involved.
Because ultraviolet radiation is damaging to DNA--a vital component of living material--you should avoid unnecessary exposure to high levels of it. Take precautions in summer by wearing a sunhat, useing protective creams and building and wearing your a cosmic ray deflector...

As scientists have identified the ozone hole, the greenhouse effect, and acid rain, we have become more aware of the extent of the large-scale damage people have done to the Earth. For the first time, nations of the world have become conscious of the need to identify and reduce these common threats. .. A greater awareness of our environment will certainly improve our well-being, and that of generations to follow.

Deadly Cosmic Rays?

Extremely high energy cosmic rays are some of the most enigmatic particles to be found in nature. Cosmic rays are particles such as protons neutrons and atomic nuclei (such as iron) that travel through space, spiralling due to the magnetic field of the galaxy. When these particles hit the atmosphere they initiate a cascade of particles (called an airshower) as they lose their energy through subsequent interactions. The initial energy of the incoming cosmic ray gets distributed throughout the shower and these particles cause the nitrogren present to fluorese, albeit at the rate of about 4 photons per ionising particle. Even though the light per particle is so low, large airshowers contain many billions of particles so that overall a measurable amount of light is produced. It also provides a wonderful method of determining how much energy the incident cosmic ray had by just measuring the amount of light we receive as the shower develops through the atmosphere. Such airshowers can be visualised as what you would see if someone ran through the atmosphere at the speed of light holding a 4watt blue lightbulb.
The cosmic rays arrive at the earth from all directions. At these energies, the cosmic rays enter the earth's atmosphere and collide with air molecules to generate a large shower of relativistic particles. These particles propagate to the ground where they can be detected directly with an array of scintillator detectors.

The Highest Cosmic Ray Event Ever Recorded

On a dark and clear night in October 1991, the Fly's Eye detector in the west desert of Utah, U.S.A. detected a cosmic ray shower of extraordinary energy. The energy of the primary particle is estimated at 320 EeV. This is about 50 Joules in energy. This one particle had more kinetic energy than a Dennis Lillee fast bowl, or a Nolan Ryan fastball.
The origin of this particle is a mystery. No known process can produce a particle with this much kinetic energy. It also must have been produced fairly locally, within about 25 Mpc, as particles of this energy interact with photons from the 3K microwave background and lose energy. No known active galaxy or radio galaxy has been observed within the region of its origin. Some exotic production methods such as the decay of topological defects in the universe have been suggested.

The Cosmic Ray Deflection Society Theories...

Knowing, that in some future time, when the ozone layer has been further destroyed by man-made chemicals such as flourocarbons and exhaust fumes, the earth and it's inhabitants will be mercilessly bombarded by deadly cosmic rays, the Cosmic Ray Deflection Society of North America, Inc. has been organized to discover ways of surviving the coming onslaught...Krudzna Ink is a loosely knit organization of crazed, forward thinking environmentalists dedicated to the survival of the human race in general, and life on the planet in particular...

While the society itself was formally organized in May of 1984, cosmic ray deflecting as a mental attitude was first realized in the fall of 1973 when reports first came out on the impending destruction of the ozone layer...Ozone, O3, the thin layer of our planet's atmosphere found 20 miles up, protects us from dreaded cosmic rays. Something had to be done!!! An Anti-Cosmic Ray Suit (ACRaS) would be constructed! Man-made items that are really unnecessary and have no real value for our lives were attached to a hat and a shirt... By believing the collection of trinkets, tickets, plastics, toys, auto parts, jewelries, beads, buttons, and other trivial items would repel the cosmic rays, the CRs were actually repelled!!!

We call the point at which the cosmic rays actually start being repelled CRITICAL MASS...As you attach each piece to your cosmic ray deflection item be it hat, shirt, car, house, shield or footgear, you think that this will be the item that gives you critical mass...At some point it actually starts happening!!! We hope...

Since those early days of CR Deflection, several cars, or Cosmic Ray Deflection Motor Vehicles, have joined the growing collection of CR items. We are now working on a Cosmic Ray House & Garden with patio in New Orleans as well as shields for urbanwear...

Dysonberg Confusion Principle

The first principle of CR Deflection has been joined by a second, more controversial theory... We now also believe that cosmic rays have a low level of intelligence which allows them to be easily confused by actions contrary to what is considered normal. Once confused, CRs tend to retreat on their own to whence they came. This Dysonberg Confusion Principle, or DCP, blends well with the society's life-style while wearing our ACRaS and riding in the CRDMV...To put the DCP in other terms, we believe that cosmic rays are semi-intelligent and therefore easily confused...That's why we wear foster grants, even though we are not movie stars...That's why we shoot off fireworks on December 25 and exchange presents on July 4th...That's why we celebrate Valloween, the only holiday celebrated twice a year on Feb 14 & Oct 31...All these activities as well as wearing our cosmic ray suits confuses the cosmic rays, which slows them down...Then you just step aside and they go past you...

About Gary Naylors Theory

Big Falling Water Deflects Rays

Recent foray into these northern climes offered excellent opportunity to investigate deflection potential of unique geological structures. Sheer vertical thrust of negative ions column, as pictured, virtually impenetrable, albeit measuring device constructed of this investigator's pocket materials, i.e. pocket knife, goose feather, Molson Ale bottle cap, tent patch kit and couple of loose threads...Would be considered crude by certain erudite members of the scientific community...
Ground observations, performed while doing justice to a superb maple nut ice cream cone, revealed periphereal, besides columnar deflection possibilities.
Field Test...Attempted to spit on boat as a simulation of deadly cosmic ray bombardment...
Result...Spittle hung in air momentarily, before whooshing upwardly, narrowly missing my forehead...
Field work continues...
