Song of the Week of 3/5/99 ~ " That's My Desire "

Recipe of the Week ~ " Where Gypsy's Play " Hungarian Goulash Coca~Cola

This week commemorates the 36th anniversary of Patsy's tragic and early death. Patsy Cline's voice and music first captivated me as a young child. Patsy's voice spoke to me then, and without question, it still speaks to me today. There is no better voice, and as far as I am concerned, there never will be. Thanks to Patsy, music has been very much a part of my life. There is no other singer before or since who has been able to reach as deeply into my soul.

Ah, this recipe is perfect because it originates from the land where " gypsies play ". It also has "red" wine and "Co-cola" as ingredients. All Patsifans know how much Patsy liked the color red and Co-Cola! On a windy March night, this meal is terrific! I hope you enjoy what I have tried to do with Recipe of the Week for the past year. Through my recipes I hope to bring a little pleasure to the visitors to SueBee's Kitchen. That's my desire!

Ingredients:

Cut the beef into 1/2-inch cubes, discarding the bone and fat.
In a Dutch oven, melt the margarine and add the meat, stirring to
brown on all sides.
Remove the meat cubes as they brown.
Saute the onion and garlic in the drippings until they are soft.
Stir in the paprika, salt, and caraway seeds; cook for 1 minute.
Stir in the meat, Coca-Cola, wine, and tomatoes.
Cover tightly; simmer about 1-1/2 hours or until the meat is
fork-tender.
In a bowl, blend the flour with a little water to make a smooth paste;
stir into goulash.
Serve with hot noodles.
