Quinnesec,
Michigan USA Quinnesec is located in the
Southeast corner of Dickinson County, Michigan. The Local Government in these
parts is known as Brietung Township. It is border by Iron Mountain &
Kingsford, Michigan on the West. Norway, Michigan on the East.
The Menominee River and Niagara, Wisconsin on the South. The North side
of town is mostly wooded area and lots of small lakes. there are no schools
in town, the school kids are bused to Kingsford Schools, which is combined
with Quinnesec to form Brietung School District. The Kingsford High School
is known as the "Kingsford Flivers". They have
an excellent football program. Kingsford won the Michigan State Football
Championship for their class in 1993, They played for the State Championship
in 1996 but lost. There is only traffic light in town, on US2 by the local post office. However there is one
just west of town at the junction of US2 & US141. Speeders and traffic

Dickinson
County, Michigan Dickinson County is Michigan's
newest county. Special legistrastion took place at the State Capitol in
Lansing to create it in 1896. It was created from parts of Marquette, Menominee,
and Iron Counties, to form a more central point of local government. The major Cities in Dickinson
County are Iron Mountain the county seat. Kingsford, Norway, Sagola. The Major employers are Champion
Papers in Quinnesec, Khoury Mfg. inc. (where I work) Grede Mills, Foley-Marten
in Kingsford. Mead Paper wood Products & Aspen Lumber in Sagola. The
Wisconsin Central is the local rail service.There is a lot of small locally
owned businesses, Quite a few Motels such as Days Inn, Holiday Inn and
locally runned motels.There are quite a few cafes and Fast Food outlets
in the county. there is also a small airport
named Ford airport. Ford Motor company operated a plant in Kings ford until
the early 1950's in Kingsford. All that remains today, is the Water Tank
& duo Smoke stacks. Dickinson County is border on
the north by Marquette County, on the East by Marquette County & Menominee
County, on the South by by the Menominee River State Line of Michigan -
Wisconsin, east by the Menominee River and Iron County. The Major highways are US2,
US141, Michigan State Road 95 & Michigan State Road 69. Iron Mountain is also the home
of the second largest population of Brown Bats in the U.S., they live in
an old mine shaft call Millies hill on Iron Mountains east side. You can
observe them from late April though October at dusk & dawn when Bats
are feeding themselves. These
