"Soulful women united through literature"

Mission Statement: Soulful Expressions’ mission is to provide positive, intellectual stimulation through reading and discussing African American Literature and have fun while doing so!

Who Are We: Soulful Expressions Book Club is a book discussion group focusing on African American Literature based in Huntsville, Alabama. Our members come from a variety of backgrounds and bring their varied perspectives and experiences to an informal discussion panel. We are teachers, engineers, nurses, computer programmers, and most of all …We are READERS!

When: We usually meet on the 3rd weekend of each month for about 2 hours. Each meeting consists of refreshments, book discussion, and book reviews. We also preview new books.

Format: Each month a different member hosts the meeting. That member will provide a location (usually her home) and all members bring refreshments based on the theme selected by the host. Discussion questions are prepared in advance and emailed to all members. After eating, we engage in the discussion with all members contributing her comments. At the end of the discussion, each member rates the book on a scale of 1 to 5, then the host announces the book for the next month. The next host chooses a date and location for the next meeting and we prepare to do all over again!
