The time between signing the agreement on the property and the day to take possesion. was a strange combination of sluglike slowness and a blur of time rushing by... a strange combination but none the less true. We had so many things to do prior to moving that it seemed we would never have sufficient time, yet due to our eagerness, the days dragged by!
We were still undecided whether or not we wanted to sell our exisiting home or find tenants. We found some information regarding becoming a landlord and that made the decision to sell that much easier! It seems that tenants have most of the rights (great if you are the tenant!) and the landlord has few rights but a whole lot of obligations. Once the decision to sell was made we had to find an agent to do the selling, sign agreements etc. We took a gamble by moving out before the house was sold, I spent many a night wondering when the vandals would discover the place was empty and procede to wreck the joint.
Well so far so good, the house is still intact six weeks after vacating.
Anyway back o the move.....
Moving day was Friday the 5th of September, a cold and rainy day as luck would have it. The trailor we had hired for our furniture had no top and the tarpaulins we had didn't fit! We did what we could using a combination of plastic garbage bags and the tarp's we had.
The bank still hadn't contacted us to give us the "go ahead" so we sat and waited in the almost empty house, watching the day getting colder and wetter every hour. Finally at about 4:40pm the call came, the deal was done, the money had changed hands and Little Eden was finally ours!
Without any further ado Chris called out "all aboard" and we set off into the sunset, looking vagually reminiscent of the Beverly Hillbilles (including Grammy Clampett in the backseat...but that's a whole different story!)
