Bo's Poem
A tribute to St. John's Pot O' Gold   "Bo"   (April 11, 1986 - Sept. 3, 1995)

(Written in loving memory by Tom S. Youngblood, Nov. 7, 1924 - Aug. 30, 2004)

A doggie smile that pierced like a dart
A smile that would win any heart
With a look in his eyes and a wag of his tail
Ol' Bo had you under his spell.

From an apple orchard to a hospital ward
From a tempting lake to his own backyard
From a sandy beach and a rolling surf
Ol' Bo was King - he ruled his turf.

Now we miss Ol' Bo and that special whine
That he used to remind us it was dinner time
And that special bark after dinner was thru
To say - come on down - I want to visit with you.

Now Bo is a memory - etched in our hearts forever
And as we journey thru time we'll always remember
The greatest love so faithful and true
The love that Ol' Bo gave to you.

Yes, we miss Ol' Bo - our favorite one
When we hand out goodies it's not much fun
But someday once more we'll see Ol' Bo
In that wonderful home where good doggies go.

For the time is coming when Ol' Dad will checkout
And I'll see Ol' Bo - I have no doubt
And I'll reach down to pat his Ol' head
But Bo's too fast - I'll get licked instead.

He'll get excited and away he'll bound
There's a car down the road - he knows that sound
He'll sit there watching with that Big Bo Smile
Thinking to himself - just one more mile.

But one thing Ol' Bo knows for sure
To see those he loves - he must endure
The passing of time that waits for no man
Then once again he'll see - Gerri and Stan.
