Elizabethan Queen 6th Edition 1995
Travel back in time with Elizabethan Queen Barbie as she takes her place on the throne of an exciting royal court. She wears a grand gown reminiscent of the lavish brocades of the 16th century. Her quilted dress captures the details and richness demanded by royalty. The intricate golden trim detailing on her dress reminds us of the real spun gold thread often used on clothing worn by royalty. Around her neck is an intricate lace collar, called a ruff. Her variation, known as the Tudor ruff, rose up from the sides, thus framing her striking red hair. The thin waist and flared hips that were quite fashionable at the time were created with corsets and hoop-like linen slip called a farthingale. Though hidden beneath yards of fabric under the dress, shoes were equally elaborate and lavish. A queen may appear in such a gown while hosting a festive banquet or perhaps while enjoying one of the Shakespeare's plays in her royal theater.
