"ABOUT ME"

I would like to take the time to introduce myself and maybe give some insight as to why I started these pages. My given name is Philip. Born many years ago, of Maliseet/French/Irish decent. My father's mother was Maliseet Indian and his father was French. My great grandfather was full blood Maliseet, but after centuries of inter-racial marrying, there are few full bloods left.

A few years back I started compiling information about my father's family and experienced a vision in a dream; a vision that helped me to realize how close I have always felt to my native heritage. When I was a lot younger my father would take me to the Powwow at Quapaw, Okla. and I had forgotten how holy they always seemed to me...until a few years ago! I have returned to the Powwow now to relive our traditions, and to feel the drums pound in my heart. When the singers sing their song, I feel as though I know them and could join in with them.

I have always felt a closeness to Mother Earth and the universal energies, as are evident in some of my writings.I love nature and am very conscious of the simple, but wonderful things the Great Spirit has given our peoples. I also have a belief in our traditional legends and so called myths. All things are possible within the world of spirits.

I have a 18 year old son living at home and a wife of four years: the loves of my life. I also have two older children, three step-children and 7 grandchildren. All of my children and grandchildren bring great joy to my life. Even though we don't always see eye to eye on things, I never lose faith in them. My hope is that all my children will know and be proud of their heritage... as I am. This is the driving force behind the formation of this website.

I am still in the process of gathering information on the Bear Family. My great granfather's name was Machelle Bear and was originally from the reservation at Tobique, New Brunswick, Canada. Before he migrated to Aroostock County in Maine. If anyone has any information about them, please E-mail me

I hope everyone will enjoy my presentation. And recieve the knowledge of all tribes and feel the sense of pride- felt by all first peoples- in their ancestry. If I can help any of you find out about your personal ancestry, let me know.

May your paths always be
clear to the Great Mysteries!
