King Rama III was keen in foreign trade, especially the trade with China. The king, princes and nobles had their own ships doing business with fooreign countries. King Rama III found out that the European model ships could sail better than Chinese junks. He decided to build many European model ships to be used in his business naval fleet, and felt that in future no one would see the Chinese junk. The Chinese junk monument was built at Yanava Temple by his command.
