In 1992 His Majesty the King Bhumibol Adulyadej kindly gave permission for the renovation of Abhisek Dusit Throne Hall to make i a museum building for displays of art works and handicrafts of the Support Foundation, under the royal patronage of Her Majesty the Queen Sirikit. On 20 January 1993 the King and the Queen presided over the opening ceremony of the Support Museum at Abhisek Dusit Throne Hall on the auspicious occasion of the golden anniversary of Her Majesty the Queen's Birthday.
Abhisek Dusit Throne Hall is one-storey hall built of brick and cement wih a wooden ceiling. This Throne Hall was located in front of Vimanmek Mansion, the world's largest golden teakwood mansion, at the East side with Klong Rong Maihom as a barrier.
Art works and handicrafts displayed at the Support Museum are of great artistic value. These works, which have been produced by members of Support Foundation are of a wide variety. There are, for example, nielloware, silver and gold inlay work, jewelry made from the wings of the Buprestid beetle, bamboo and yan lipoa weaving, wood carving, Mudmee silk, mother of pearl decoration and ceramic works.
Also, the Queen has kindly permitted the display of some of Her Majesty's personal artwork collection at the Museum. This Support Museum can be counted as the first permanent museum of the Support Foundation in Thailand where the art works and handicrafts of exquisite beauty, great artistic value and of a wide variety are displayed, produced by the local Thai people.
