The ancient Siamese capitol of Ayutthaya was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1991. Ayutthaya celebrates its glorious past with historical exhibitions, traditional cultural processions and performances, light & sound presentations around city ruins, and numerous forms of entertainment.
The TAT, in collaboration with the Fine Arts Development and the province of Ayutthaya, will stage a light-and-sound (sens-et-lumiere) show to display the glory of Ayutthaya which served as Thailand's capital for 417 years.

Ayutthaya declared by UNESCO to be a world heritage site, was ruled by 53 kings, each creating a distinguishable culture. To celebrate its world heritage status, a fair will be organised between December 12 and 21, 1997 at Wat Phra Sri Sanpetch. Viewers will see behind-the-scences techniques used in preparing for the light-and-sound production. Booths and stalls displaying, selling and serving Thai cuisine from the Ayutthaya period will also be dispensing information on "Amazing Thailand".
The light-and-sound show will be the main feature of the fair which is entitled "The glory of Ayutthaya," with sound tracks in English, French and Japance. "The glory of Ayutthaya," light-and-sound show can be seen between December 15 and 21. Between December 15 and 18, there will be one show from 20:00 to 21:00 hours and between December 19 and 21 there will be two performances between 18:00 and 20:00 hours.
