Pests and Diseases
DISEASES
- Erwinia? [picture] This is on a Paph seedling. The black rot started in the axil and spread down the leaf. Additionally, it spread up the plant, affecting the lower leaves first, then ultimately killed the plant. You see it here almost dead.
- Pseudomonas? [picture] Very similar to Erwinia above.
- Leaf Spots. [picture] Not a terrible "disease" per se, but unsightly and caused in this case by my own stupidity. I started 'sending my plants to bed with wet feet'. That is to say watering too late in the day for them to adequately dry off. The result was spots galore, especially on the Oncidiums!
GENETIC PROBLEMS
- - Dtps. Hybridizer's Dream. [picture] Notice how the white picotee around the sepals never completely forms and looks motheaten when it does. This is the second year its bloomed for me this way. I've had the plant for 3 yrs.
- - No lip formation. [picture] This is a Lc Mizumo 'Mishima'. Again, the lip forms OK on some flowers on the same stalk, and fails to form on others. This is the second year its done this for me. Another candidate for 'culling'.
