These are true stories of some of the special needs Rotties we have featured in the past. These Rotties have either recovered or are on the road to recovery. Their medical bills have been paid. Hopefully by making Rottweiler owners and the public aware of the neglect and abuse some of these rescues go through will help Rottweiler Rescues across the country.

If you would like to donate or volunteer to help the Rottweiler rescues who have saved these Rotties, please contact the Rottweiler rescue group or check the Rescue Links page for a Rottie Rescue in your area or state.

Thanks to all for helping these special needs Rotties!

Winter--ADOPTED
Recycled Rotts Inc.

bb

1-13-99 This little girl, approximately 7 months old, based on her injuries, is believed to have been possibly beaten with a baseball bat. Winter was beaten and left in the snow to die, but was rescued by John, an animal control officer from Itasca, IL. John took Winter to a vet where she spent the evening, her cries of pain haunted him all evening. The next day, with Mona's help (a dispatcher for the Itasca Police Dept.), they contacted Recycled Rotts.
There was NO DISCUSSION, she would be taken sight unseen. Winter's jaw had been broken in two places, she was sedated and her jaw temporarily set to make her more comfortable for the 2 1/2 hr trip to RR. Xrays were taken, and they confirmed that the left side of the lower jaw was fractured in the middle, but the right side was worse, fractured and dislocated near the back.

3-15-99 Winter has been adopted by Deanna. Deanna works at the vet that took care of Winter. We wish Deanna and Winter a very happy and long life together. Winter deserves a home where she will be loved and it looks like she has found one!

Liesl--ADOPTED
Champaign County Rottweiler Rescue

Champaign Illinois Liesl, a 18mo female rescued by CCRR had hip dysplasia and a torn cruciate ligament. CCRR's vet fixed her knee, and had both of her hips replaced. She has known nothing but pain her entire life, and yet she has nothing but love for everyone and everything. Liesl is truly an incredible girl!

Jackson--ADOPTED
Jackson is a 18 month old male. When Jackson's owners moved and left him behind, he didn't understand why or know of anything he’d done to deserve being abandoned. He tried to make the best of it by playing with the neighborhood children who fed and watered him and told their parents about the big friendly dog they called "Yogi". Jackson was heartworm positive and received his heartworm treatment.

Lexus-ADOPTED

Lexus was adopted and is doing wonderfully in her new home! Her medical bills were completely covered by donations.

Bruno--ADOPTED
Champaign County Rottweiler Rescue

Champaign Illinois
11/4/98 - Bruno, a 6 year old male from Connecticut has IBD and food allergies. Bruno weighed 72 lbs. when he went to CCRR, and gaining weight. Every pound was a struggle. He is on a special diet that is very expensive.

Dexter - ADOPTED!!
Southern States Rottweiler Rescue, Inc.

April 20, 2000---Dexter, a 2-3 year old neutered male with a recent front left leg amputation. From the information Dexter's original rescuer, Lila Borge Wills(a Mastiff rescuer), was given - Dexter was thrown from a truck (deliberately) about 8-9 months ago, resulting in his leg/paw being broken. A plate was put in his foot, then he was dumped - bandages and all - at the local kill shelter. Dexter was adopted, but he wasn't taken care of properly, causing extensive nerve damage and ulceration of the pad. Dexter's foot was x-rayed, showing the plate and screws. Given the length of time neglected, subsequent nerve damage, deformity of the foot and chronic ulceration, the options for this boy were euthanasia or amputation.

August 14 - Dexter's foster mom decided he was just too sweet and loving to give him up and has adopted Dexter!
