 THE ULTIMATE PRIZE

He stood, He stared, He looked around
At the blue waters and the lush green grounds
He smiled, and nodded at tear in his eye
With a twitch of a finger he made the sky.

He dreamed the dreams a father has
Of a world of love, filled with class
He didn’t see colors, or sexes, or beliefs
He didn’t foresee all the trouble and grief.

He just wanted all to live as one
Just one human race, it could be fun
He gave us arms, eyes and legs
And brains to reason through any snags.

He now sits back and cry’s alot
Happy he is - I think not
You see we are his children and we have done wrong
The whole of man - kind has trailed along.

But not to worry it’s not to late
We can stop the killing and hate
All we do now is hate and rave
In his image we were made
For us his life he gave.

The He I am speaking of
Is the great Lord God above
So people lets all get wise
And give our Father the Ultimate Prize.

A clean world with only one race
Human beings, would make his case
Not fast, slow, colored or white
Just human beings to make his life bright.

PRAYING FOR THE DAY
Written by my Father:  John Fincher in 1945

I'm praying for the day
When the folks at home can say
That this terrible War is Over
And the bombs no longer Fly
From the Planes up in the Sky

I'm praying for the day
When Peace will Come
Sweetheart & Wife's so Dear
Who are waiting for that Year
For their loved ones to return

Won't they be so Gay
On that Great & Happy Day
I'm praying for the Day
That Peace will Come

LEND YOU A CHILD

l lend to you for a little time,
A child of mine, He said
For you to love the while he lives
And moarn for when he's dead,

It may be six or seven years,
Or twenty two or three,
But will you till I call him back,
Take care of him for me?

He'll bring his charms to gladden you,
And should his stay be brief,
You'll have his lovely memories,
As solace for your grief.

I cannot promise he will stay,
Since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there,
I want this child to learn.

I've looked this wide world over,
In my search for teachers true
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes,

I have selected you.
Now, will you give him all your love,
Nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come to call,

And take him home again.
I fancied that I heard them say,
Dear Lord, Thy will be done.
For all the joy Thy child shall bring,

The risk of grief we'll run,
We'll shelter him with tenderness
And we'll love him while we may
And for the happiness we've known,

Forever grateful stay.
But should the Angels call for him,
Much sooner than we planned
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes,
And try to understand.
