Everyone has a theory on the true inner workings of the characters in Anastasia. We'd like to offer our humble (or is it "not-so-humble"? ;D) opinions on these very special people we've all learned to love.

Profile of Anastasia "Anya" Romanov
What is She Like? Independent, Caring, Determined
Basic Personality Anya wanted to learn more about herself, when it really was there all along. She was independent, but also a team player -- a nice mix. She was definitely playful, and would probably keep you rolling in your seat if she was a close friend. She had a nice way of being tough yet gentle, which probably came in handy her whole life since few people are blessed with that. She was also pretty humble, and had a nice trait of being caring but also fiery. And she was VERY determined and optimistic about her life and where it was going.
If She Were a Chocolate A Nougat - Keeps her form and exterior in tact, yet is nice and gooey.
If She Were a Flower A Tiger Lily - Graceful and beautiful with a fiery side.
If She Were An Animal A Lioness - Independent and a little rough on the edges, but dignified and nurturing.
Dance She'd Probably Enjoy Ballet. Elegant and poised, but can also be flirtatious and fast.
Good Careers She had the patience to be a teacher or volunteer.
Profile of Dimitri
What He WANTS to Be Cynical, Sarcastic, and Unfeeling.
What He REALLY Is Sardonic, Optimistic, Energetic, Determined, Teasing, and Intelligent.
Basic Personality Dimitri obviously wanted to be very sarcastic and cynical throughout the movie, as well as a little pessimistic. But was he really? In order to get what he wanted accomplished, he had to BELIEVE he could. Pessimists tend to sit back and never try because they "know they can't", unlike the more optimistic Dimitri who KNEW he'd get that money. Look at his confidence throughout the movie -- he states to Vlad "We'll find her, she's right under our noses" when his partner wants to give up. Pessimists wouldn't have tried, let alone said that with such an assured air. And we know he couldn't be an idiot to be a con-man -- most are actually college graduates. Although it would be a bit of a stretch to suppose that Dimitri went to university in Soviet Russia (especially given his age of 20), he most likely read a good deal in order to understand how people's minds work: that's a MUST for con-men. He also had a natural flair for dramatics and was fast on his feet. So he may not have been a college grad by far, but he wasn't stupid by any reasoning. He also most likely was sensitive to people's feelings, another con-man trait. He liked to tease and flirt, as shown by his behavior towards Anya. They didn't "hate" or even "dislike" each other -- it was more of a mutual "If I poke you, will you poke me back?" testing of the waters. We must remember that his whole life he'd be subjected to women who could easily fall under his spell; Anya's independence that was proven to him definitely changed that.
If He Were a Chocolate A Turtle - Hard chocolate on the outside, with a sweet caramel inside -- and a few playful nuts thrown in.
If He Were a Flower A Dandelion. A "weed" to some people's views who grows into quite a pretty and almost springy flower. He may get weed-whacked, but he comes right back.
If He Were an Animal A Cat. Independent, showy, intelligent, and quick on his feet -- yet very loving to those he trusts.
Dance He'd Probably Enjoy The Swing. Showy, fast, and fun.
Good Careers He'd make a good Silent Screen Star or Journalist -- something where all the action is and he can work relatively independently and be judged on his own skills.
Profile of Count Vladimir Vasilovich
What He Is Loyal, Caring, Fatherly, Supportive, Sentimental.
Basic Personality Vlad probably had to really change his outlook on life to survive in the "New Russia", yet managed to remain loyal, supportive, and loving. He was obviously like a surrogate father to Dimitri, from actually putting up with him (not an easy job!) to giving him a caring hug and advice. He also showed support to Anya, and helped the two to find each other. Not to mention him quickly catching on to the "unspoken attraction"! He was nostalgic and kind, sweet and emotional. He also had a VERY good sense of humor, and was extremely playful!
If He Were a Chocolate A Fruit Cream - Soft and and fun!
If He Were a Flower A Morning Glory - Simplistically ornate and dependable.
If He Were an Animal A loyal dog, always there to be a shoulder to cry on and listen to your problems in quiet support.
Dance He'd Probably Enjoy The waltz - traditional but open to adaptations.
Good Careers Something he could nurture people with, like a child's doctor or teacher.
Profile of Sophie Somorokov-Smirnoff
What She Is Playful, Flirtatious, Social, Outgoing, Young At Heart, Trendy, and Understanding.
Basic Personality Fun and teasing. Sophie probably enjoyed relaxing and talking, going to parties, and of course shopping! She's your typical Type A personality -- very outgoing! Never a quiet moment when around her! She's your "feel better" friend: feed you a pint of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, take you out for some shopping, then some make you laugh hysterically as she tells you about her views on life and fun.
If She Were a Chocolate A cream, of course!
If She Were a Flower A Rose - Beautiful and Tender.
If She Were an Animal A Rabbit - Cuddly and just has a way of making you feel so much better.
Dance She'd Probably Enjoy The Charleston and Lindy Hop of course! Young, Fun, Trendy, and Jazzy!
Good Careers Anything where she can entertain and show people around, as well as express her knowledge of the latest! She might make a good tourguide of a tres chic part of Paris, or a fashion designer.
