For those of you out there who are passionately in love with Japanese Ranchus, we urge you to make at least one pilgrimage to Japan in your Ranchu rearing hobby. Apart from seeing many beautiful places along the way, a visit to some of the master breeders is the ultimate experience for a hobbyist.
The months of July-August is the best time to see the Tosais of the new season and hopefully buy some real good quality fishes as well.

Our club has been fortunate to have members pay such visits regularly and of course, they also endeavour to bring home the ‘real’ Japanese bred fishes for other members.

The trip is also part of our quest for continuous upgrading of our know-how in keeping Ranchus based on the finest Japanese tradition. Some of us have known Ishikawa-san for some years and he was very kind to host a visit for 3 of our keen members last August.

Ishikawa-san is the revered Ranchu master in the All Japan Ranchu Association. His experience is a family tradition passed from father to son. His family name is renowned and has been associated with Ranchu breeding for close to a hundred years. A man with very few words, his reputation precedes him and he lets his fishes do the talking. Although they are pricey to start with, his collection of over 500 fishes each season is generally considered to be of the highest quality, ranging anything from 80,000 to 500,000 yen for Tosais.

Chang, Ron and Tian were very fortunate this summer, where they spent a good 2 days at his farm just outside Tokyo. What makes Ishikawa’s collection unique is, apart from culling the fishes that he breeds himself, he also takes in the best fishes from other club breeders under his wing as well. Though the searing heat during August was penetrating, our members were oblivious to it. They were taken in by this season’s Tosai of very fine quality. They spent a good 6 hours on the first day admiring, discussing and selecting a few which they bought for other club members.

Ishikawa-san is also the life President of the most famous Ranchu Club in Japan, the Kangyo-kai. We are proud to announce that Mr. Ron Ng from Ozeki Ranchu Club Singapore, is the first Singaporean to be admitted to this prestigious club on the recommendation of Ishikawa-san.

"Ooo! where did you find this one?"...Ishikawa-san

Mmmm...this pond looks pretty interesting!

"Ron-san..this is a very good fish!"...Masahiko

"Ron, did you see that?"...Tian

The Ozeki Ranchu Club’s mission is to promote the Japanese top view Ranchu hobby in Singapore and in the region outside of Japan.
