Face-Lift for the CLK

When the new modelyear of the CLK comes to the dealerships after the IAA ((Frankfurt Motor Show, second half of September 1999)) only experts will notice the changes. Front- and rear skirt and the side sills have been slightly modified and now are completely painted ((in the body colour)). Located in the outer rear view mirrors are additional turn signals. In the cabin now higher quality materials are used. Like the E-Class ((W210)) the CLK gets a multifunction steering wheel. The trim packages are new defined - amongst other things now the Comand-system (integrates the functions of radio, telephone and navigation system) known from the S-Class ((W220)) is available. The supercharged 2.3-litre unit will be substituted by a turbocharged two-litre unit and the convertible can be ordered with the 4.3-litre V8, too.

Mercedes CLK: Even better inside and outside
Despite two very successful ((sales)) years the CLK (more than 75.000 units were already sold) the CLK gets its first face-lift in summer ((1999)), inside and outside. Immediately catching one's eye are the turn signals integrated into the side rear view mirrors (like the S-Class W220). In the front is a more pulled down bumper with small spoiler lip and the rear skirt now reaches down deeper, too. The side profile is formed by new side skirts. The surfaces in the cockpit get a more noble look. The integrated monitor-system "Comand" can be ordered as an option which includes the new multifunction steering-wheel. Only addition to the engine range is the 2.4-litre V6-engine with 170hp.
