Killing Time

What to do when waiting for a kit?

While waiting for the kit I ran around buying everything I "thought" I needed - this was a waste of time and money as you are better off sitting on your hands, as the kit should arrive in 8 to 10 weeks. I wasted a few dollars on stuff Ive never used. However history is history and I did try a few things. The following is what i occupied my time on.

The Dash Board

The construction of the dashboard was undertaken on a cold and windy weekend (not good 7 weather!!

Borrowed a dash template and went for it. The dash "pad" has been shaped out of balsa wood

The heater vents are out of a Alfa 33 and the Dash panel out of a Datsun 240K.

Now for the truth.... This dash never fitted - looked good - but I threw it out. Moral of the story - dont get too ahead of yourself. :-) I ended up using smiths guages out of a Triumph 2500 and Dolomite (for the 4 Cylinder Tacho). See later discussion of the dash Mk II.

The wheel to set it all off. Hopefully the wood wheel will pass the ADR compliance. If not I'll stick the wife's leather MOMO on for the vehicle inspection.
