The successor of the just
face-lifted SLK ((R170)) will be presented in the year 2004 and go
into production in 2005. As can be seen from the above computer graphics
from "Auto Motor und Sport" the car will have the nose in the style of
the actual McLaren-Mercedes Formula 1 cars, a styling theme which can also
be seen on the Vision
SLA study based upon the platform of the actual A-Class W168 and on
the bigger Vision SLR study.
The new SLK will share the platform with the new
C-Class ((W203, to be presented at "Auto Mobil International" auto
show in Leipzig, Germany, in April 2000)), but in the interior the character
of a sports car shall be pointed out much stronger. Going hand in hand
with this is the intention to place a strong AMG-engine under the hood:
The supercharged 3.2-litre V6 with more than 400hp ((DIN)) which also can
be ordered with the new C-Class from 2001 on. Other variants will be SLK
320 with 218hp ((DIN)) and the new 200 Kompressor ((=supercharger)) with
163hp ((DIN)).
