Belfast Memorial - Weekend of Events - Reports

Unveiling the Memorial in Writers' Square, Sat. 8th Nov. 2008

There were over 150 people present at this re-dedication of the memorial, which is in Writers' Square, Donegal St, Belfast - see the map

It would be fair to say that there were a lot of people there who were grateful for the opportunity to show their support for the Brigadiers.

The crowd was addressed by Kevin Doherty on behalf of the IBCC and the two veterans and then the events closed with Manus O'Riordan leading the crowd in singing the Internationale with Bob and Jack then actually unveiling the Memorial.

There is a short YouTube clip on these events, showing part of the crowd and Jack Edwards comments.

After the rededication a lot of the crowd retired to the nearby John Hewitt bar, where they of course checked out the earlier memorial plaque and had some lunch!
