December 07, 2000: DieterBohlen.com is officially closed again since December 05. In a statement posted on the message board on Jürgen's Fanpage the webmaster of DieterBohlen.com announced yesterday that Dieter Bohlen asked for the web site to be taken off-line. In a second statement Dieter Bohlen explained that he closed the web site due to offensive comments in the discussion area and due to his inability to continue to spend hours each day answering questions from fans. Nevertheless, for several weeks fans had the rare opportunity to come a little closer to Dieter Bohlen by having the Modern Talking star personally answer to their questions.

November 14, 2000: BMG's Internet site provides a link to DieterBohlen.com . This confirms that the site is indeed the official web site of Dieter Bohlen.

November 11, 2000: Confusion about DieterBohlen.com . The new site is positioned as Dieter Bohlen's official web site and contains official statements from Dieter Bohlen as well as a message board where Dieter Bohlen responds to messages posted by fans. However, many fans express doubt that this page is indeed Dieter's site. The real Dieter Bohlen or not? We should know more in the near future.

November 11, 2000: After "No Face No Name No Number" another song from the album "Year Of The Dragon" that is not available as a retail single comes to chart honors. "Fly To The Moon" spent one week in the Bulgarian radio airplay charts (Source: ARA Audio - Video) last week at number 17. While week the song is not in the Top 20 anymore this week, the album "Year Of The Dragon" is still number 14. in the Bulgarian album charts.

November 11, 2000: In India the album "Disco Nights" enters the album sales charts published by Indian Times at number 10. The sampler contain's Modern Talking's "Cheri, Cheri Lady". Earlier this year the album "Absolute Dance" that contains "Brother Louie '98" reached number 3 in India.

November 08, 2000: Dieter Bohlen is the center of an alleged sex scandal in the German media. According to German newspaper Bild (November 02, 2000 issue) Dieter was "caught in the act" with a 21 year old sales clerk (Janina Y. ) in the backroom of a carpet store in Hamburg (Germany). Bild also claimed the carpet store owner filed a lawsuit against Dieter Bohlen. This prompted German newspapers and TV stations to report about the alleged incidence, regardless of the fact that Bild is known to base stories on incorrect information. Dieter Bohlen told reporters that the allegations are not true. Meanwhile several German TV stations and newspapers claimed that Dieter's girlfriend Nadja moved out from Dieter Bohlen's house in Toetensen near Hamburg and moved back in with her parents. This turned out to be an outright lie. Nadja is still together with Dieter Bohlen and told the media that she does not believe in the allegations. While Bild published a series of articles about the Bohlen scandal, revealing more and more details, German Modern Talking fans had their first doubts about the story which were confirmed by the newspaper Hamburger Morgenpost (November 07, 2000 issue). Only hours after Dieter Bohlen was supposedly in the carpet store (which he claims he has never seen from the inside) Modern Talking gave a concert in Düren in South Germany in front of 27,000 Modern Talking fans. Based on the distance between both locations it is almost impossible and totally implausible that the allegations are true. In addition, two witnessess support that Dieter Bohlen was with them on the road to the concert at the time he was supposedly caught in the carpet store. The Hamburger Morgenpost also reports the fact that the owner of a boutique next to the carpet store and his lawyer were the ones who made the allegations about Dieter Bohlen and the carpet store was not even involved. In addition, the lawyer of the boutique owner offerered the Hamburger Moregnpost and obviously also other newspapers and magazines to sell the "true story" for DM 20.000, not really a behavior one would expect from the laywer of a truthful client. The conclusion: Dieter Bohlen seems to be the victim of a PR fraud of a store owner and his lawyer. Meanwhile Janina Y. sold her "true story" to another German magazine, Bild continues the series of stories about the big "scandal" and other German media are not interested in reporting the facts that support Dieter Bohlen's innocence.

September 30, 2000: Modern Talking singer Thomas Anders will play in a 70 minutes  movie which is scheduled to debut in German movie theaters in March 2001. The movie is an independent production. The crime story will feature Thomas Anders as the "bad guy". Thomas Anders is following in Dieter Bohlen's footsteps who played in the German TV movie "Moltke" in the crime story series "Tatort" in 1988. The title song for the TV movie was Blue System's "Silent Water". While Dieter Bohlen only had a very small role, Thomas Anders' role seems to be bigger, as he will be on the movie set for 7 days.

September 26, 2000: The current issues of music industry trade magazines Billboard and Music & Media contain a special booklet covering the 2000 IFI Platinum Europe Awards which were held on July 13, 2000 in Brussels. September 08, 2000: "No Face No Name No Number" continues to be an international radio airplay hit without the release of any commercial single. While the song drops from 18 to 29 in Romania after peaking at number one a few weeks ago, the single still receives Top 10 airplay in Albania and ranks number one on the official airplay charts in Turkey.

August 29, 2000: According to today's issue of Austrian newspaper "Oberösterreichische Nachrichten", Dieter Bohlen will no longer pursue his plans to establish his own entertainment company. The newspaper quotes Dieter "It is not as easy as I originally thought to go to the stock exchange." Dieter believes that currently money can only be lost but not made with music in the stock market. The newspaper does not fail to mention that Dieter's fortune is estimated at 1.7 Billion Austrian Schilling (110 Million US$). Do these news mean, that Modern Talking fans can look forward to Dieter again spending more time and energy on Modern Talking rather than other activities like his planned media company? Time will tell.

August 18, 2000: According to Thomas-Anders.com and an email by Thomas Anders sent to many Modern Talking fans, the next annual Official Thomas Anders Fan Club Party will take place on January 06, 2001 in Koblenz (Germany). The event will be held in the discoteque "Extra" starting at 2 p.m.

July 15, 2000: Today Thomas Anders married his girl friend Claudia. The wedding ceremony was held in a medieval castle in Stromburg (Germany), followed by a wedding reception for about 170 guests. Dieter Bohlen did not attend. To limit the number of cameras and reporters at the wedding, Thomas Anders had sold exclusive broadcasting rights to German TV station Sat 1 and one media agency. Thomas will donate the money for a foundation that supports musical therapy.

July 13, 2000: According to Thomas-Anders.com (online since yesterday) the Official Modern Talking Fan Club has been renamed to Official Thomas Anders Fan Club. The fan club has been led as official Modern Talking fan club for only one and a half years since the beginning of 1999. This decision is related to the closing of ModernTalking.com and re-opening as Thomas-Anders.com.

July 03, 2000: Thomas Anders posted another statement at ModernTalking.com (this time only in German) regarding the closing of the official Modern Talking web site  and re-opening as www.thomas-anders.com.  Thomas Anders assures fans that this is "definitely not the end of Modern Talking". Thomas explains that Dieter had asked Thomas for a while already to close the Modern Talking web site, as Dieter felt the web site would not have any advantages for Modern Talking. As Thomas disagreed on this opinion both finally agreed that Thomas would hold the web site under his name. The new site will continue to provide information on Modern Talking. Thomas Anders asks fans to accept that he and Dieter sometimes have different opinions (as in this case) but that this does not imply at all that Modern Talking will break up ("we are not siamese twins"). Thomas Anders also promises to take a closer look at the official Modern Talking fan club to ensure that it will be lead more professionally in the future.

July 01, 2000: As announced during the new years night performance of Modern Talking, Thomas Anders is getting married to his girl friend Claudia Hess. The wedding will be taking place on July 15. 2000 guests will be attending. German TV show "Blitz" (Sat1) will report about the wedding the following day at 6 p.m. local time.

June 30, 2000: ModernTalking.com stopped operating and will re-open as www.thomas-anders.com on July 12. Here is the official statement of Thomas Anders regarding this situation: "Dear Fans, From now on Dieter Bohlen is going to concentrate more on composing and producing, that is why he refrains from any activities concerning our fans (Fan club and Modern Talking website). I have been looking after the interests of our fans for years, therefore he wants me to hold all content of the website exclusive under the name Thomas Anders. Yours sincerely Thomas Anders."

June 24, 2000: "Grosser Bruder" by Zlatko und Juergen, a song co-written by Modern Talking singer Thomas Anders enters the German singles chart right at number one this week.

June 18, 2000: Modern Talking singer Thomas Anders is one of the composers of the song "Grosser Bruder" (Big Brother) by Zlatko und Juergen, a spin-off from the German version of reality TV show "Big Brother". Sales figures for the first few days since the commercial release of the single make a very high chart entry in Germany in the next week very likely.

June 18, 2000: While there is no sign that "No Face No Name No Number" will be released as a commercial single, the song continues to attract radio listeners in different countries. This week Top Albania Radio lists the song as a new entry at number 10. in their "mix parade".

June 18, 2000: Modern Talking's "Don't Take Away My Heart" drops out of the official German singles sales charts after just five weeks on the chart and peaking only at number 41. This makes "Don't Take Away My Heart" the least successfull single in Modern Talking's entire German chart career. Meanwhile the single manages to stay successfull in one of Germany's federal states, the single holds on to number 20 in Mecklenburg Western Pomerania.

May 21, 2000: According to an interview Dieter Bohlen gave to German newspaper "BZ", published on May 18, Modern Talking are in the middle of negotiations for the 2001 German Modern Talking tour, which is supposed to visit 40 cities. Dieter Bohlen stated that they would like to play not only in the big concert halls but also in front of smaller audiences in smaller towns. Dieter Bohlen gave the interview prior to an outsold Modern Talking concert in Berlin.

May 17, 2000: "Don't Take Away My Heart" enters the official singles sales charts in Hungary at number 8. Hungary is the only country where every Modern Talking single since the 1998 comeback reached the Top 10: You're My Heart, You're My Soul '98 (No.1.), Brother Louie '98 (No.1.), Spacemix/We Take The Chance (No.4.), You Are Not Alone (No.4.), Sexy Sexy Lover (No.9.), China In Her Eyes (No.7.) and now Don't Take Away My Heart.

May 13, 2000: According to ModernTalking.com Modern Talking will present "No Face No Name No Number" instead of the most recent single "Don't Take Away My Heart" on German TV shows Expo Gala (ZDF, June 01), The Dome (June 04, RTL 2) and Fernsehgarten (June 04, ZDF). So far there is no official statement on a potential single release of "No Face No Name No Number".

May 13, 2000: Yesterday Modern Talking gave the second concert of their German tour in Cologne. While German news media criticized that visior attendance was low, Modern talking nevertheless played in front of an estimated 7,000 fans. Here is the song list of the concert: 1) China In Her Eyes 2) Cosmic Girl  3) Fly To The Moon 4) Girl Out Of My Dreams 5) In 100 Years 6) My Lonely Girl  7) Part Time Lover 8) Never Fall In Love Again 9) Geronimo's Cadillac 10) Time Is On My Side 11) We Take The Chance 12) Can't Let You Go 13) You Can Win If You Want 14) Jet Airliner 15) No Face No Name No Number 16) Atlantis Is Calling 17) It's Your Smile 18) Cheri Cheri Lady 19) Don't Take Away My Heart 20) Brother Louie '98 (Rap Version) 21) You're My Heart You're My Soul '98 (Vocal + Rap - Mix) 22) Sexy Sexy Lover (Rap + Vocal Mix) 23) You Are Not Alone (Rap + Vocal Mix) 24) China In Her Eyes (Rap Version) 25) Don't Take Away My Heart (Rap Version).

May 11, 2000: According to Andrew, host of MIX FM weekly TOP 20 on Latvian radio station MIX FM 102,7 a vocal version of the video "Don't Take Away My Heart" exists that does not feature Eric Singleton at all. Andrew was present when the local BMG subsidiary received a mailing from the German record company containing the normal rap version as well as the vocal version. Two Latvian TV channels are expected to broadcast the vocal version of the video.

May 11, 2000: "Don't Take Away My Heart' enters the German charts at number 41. Only one Modern Talking single entered the charts at a lower position. Last year "You Are Not Alone" entered the German charts at number 84, to finally peak at number 7. However, the low entry position in 1999 was caused by street date violations, some retailers made the single available one day before official release date and the sales of this single day fell into the relevant chart period.

May 11, 2000: As reported earlier Modern Talking were nominated for best band international at the Austrian Amadeus awards. However, Modern Talking did not win. The award went to Red Hot Chilli Peppers.

May 06, 2000: According to an interview with Dieter Bohlen in German newspaper Bild, there is only a contract for three more Modern Talking albums. After this contract runs out he could imagine to quit with Modern Talking and music in general to focus on his dreams to build a media company. Newspaper Bild is known to exaggerate or even publish incorrect information and Dieter Bohlen stated intentions in the past that did not come true (writing a musical, starting a pop duo with German singer Drafi Deutscher, single release together with the Pet Shop Boys, etc.). After all, only the future can show how many more Modern Talking albums will be released.

May 06, 2000: According to Modern Talking Scandinavian Infoclub Dieter Bohlen will no longer produce German boy band Touchee' and the band will also no longer be distributed by BMG. This decision does not come as a surprise as recent album and singles releases failed to enter the German charts.

May 06, 2000: German Modern Talking fans widely report difficulties in buying the new Modern Talking single "Don't Take Away My Heart" during its first week of release. Two factors are driving this situation: many German retailers ordered only a relatively limited number of singles, becoming more carefull after the lower than expected sales of "China In Her Eyes" and fan demand that exceeded retail expectations. The limited availability of the single could negatively impact the first week chart position in Germany.

May 06, 2000: In India the album "Absolute Dance" enters the album charts as highest new entry at number 3. The dance sampler contains (among other songs by various dance artists) Modern Talking's "Brother Louie '98".

April 30, 2000: Last night Modern Talking introduced their new single "Don't Take Away My Heart" to the German TV audience on German TV station ARD in the "Lotto Show". Modern Talking presented the vocal version of the song without any appearance of Eric Singleton. After presenting the song Modern Talking gave a short interview to the host of the show. Thomas talked about the plans for the upcoming German tour and Dieter talked about the events of the prior nights, where he escaped a bomb attack on a discoteque in Hamburg (see story below). Dieter pointed out that he disagrees with the management of the discoteque to re-open the place just one night after the tragical events.

April 30, 2000: By mere coincidence, Dieter Bohlen from Modern Talking escaped a bomb attack on a discoteque in Hamburg (Germany). According to German news agency dpa, a grenade exploded in the discoteque on early Saturday morning (April 29). Eight people got severely injured. Among the guests earlier that night were several celebrities including Dieter Bohlen, who visits the discoteque quite frequently. Dieter left early only because Modern Talking had a TV appearance the following evening, therefore escaping the events without any harm. The police is still unclear of the background of the crime.

April 30, 2000: While "No Face No Name No Number" falls to number 6 in Lebanon this week, the song is the biggest hit of Modern Talking in this country since their comeback in 1998. "No Face No Name No Number" reached number 1 beating the previous performance of "You're My Heart, You're My Soul '98" which peaked at number 2 in Lebanon.

April 27, 2000: German TV station Sat 1 recently published the cover of "Don't Take Away My Heart" on their website. The cover confirms the track listing published on May 11 on Modern Talking Scandinavian Infoclub. The tracks included on the maxi-CD are: 1)Don´t Take Away My Heart - New Vocal Version 2) Don´t Take Away My Heart - New Rap Version feat. Eric Singleton 3) Fly To The Moon - New Rap Version feat. Eric Singleton

April 27, 2000: In the 8'th charts week "Year Of The Dragon" falls from number 24 to number 33 in Germany. Of the other eight studio albums only "Romantic Warriors" (which also peaked at number 3 but fell out of the charts after just 10 weeks) and "In The Garden of Venus" (which peaked at number 35) were less successfull. However, the chart fate of Modern Talking in Germany could still turn around as the new video "Don't Take Away My Heart" is receiving heavy airplay from German music TV station Viva, BMG and Modern Talking start to promote the release of the new single and the German tour starts on May 10 in Cottbus.

April 22, 2000: On April 20 the new Modern Talking video "Don't Take Away My Heart" had its world premiere on German music TV station "Viva". The new video features once again raps by Eric Singleton. First pictures of the video can be found here.

April 11, 2000: "China In Her Eyes" climbs all the way to number one in the official dance charts of Chile.

March 31, 2000: Despite not being an official single, Modern Talking's „No Face No Name No Number" enters the charts in Lebanon this week at number 20 and the charts in Moldova as highest new entry at number 3. Both charts are based on radio airplay, which explains how this album track could chart. As radio stations usually focus on official singles releases, this indicates that radio stations and fans in both countries consider "No Face No Name No Number" the song with the biggest hit potential on Modern Talking's ninth album "Year Of The Dragon". This matches the opinion fans from all over the world voice on various Internet message boards. At this time BMG does not plan to release "No Face No Name No Number" as a single but focusses on the upcoming single release of "Don't Take Away My Heart". However, back in 1998 BMG Berlin the record label for Modern Talking in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Eastern Europe planned to release the "Space Mix" as follow up to "You're My Heart, You're My Soul '98" but changed plans to follow other BMG subsidiaries in releasing "Brother Louie '98" as second single. The future will show if "No Face No Name No Number" will be released as single or not.

March 31, 2000: Although "Year Of The Dragon" falls to number 10 in its fourth chart week in Germany, the album still enjoys enormous success in one federal state of Germany, in Mecklenburg Western Pomerania the album continues to be the number in the sales charts.

March 31, 2000: Living up to the success of previous Modern Talking singles, "China In Her Eyes" climbs to number 3 this week in the official dance charts of Chile.

March 24, 2000: According to ModernTalking.com the video for the new single "Don't Take Away My Heart" will be taped in Los Angeles between April 04 and April 08. However for "Brother Louie'99" only Eric Singleton traveled to the US, while Dieter and Thomas recorded their appearance in the video in Germany.

March 10, 2000: As forecasted Modern Talking did not win the German Echo award for best German band. The award went to rap band Die Fantastischen Vier.

March 08, 2000: Modern Talking are one of five nominees for the best German band category at the upcoming Echo awards, the official awards of the German music industry. However, since these awards are strongly based on chart performance, Modern Talking have only a small chance to actually win the award as German rap band Die Fantastischen Vier beats Modern Talking by one position in the German year end album charts for 1999. The awards ceremony will take place tomorrow, March 09 in Hamburg (Germany).

March 08, 2000: According to ModernTalking.com  the new Modern Talking single will be "Don't Take Away My Heart". Release date for Germany, Austria and Switzerland is May 02. ModernTalking.com did not state if rap versions featuring Eric Singleton are planned for this release.

March 08, 2000: "Year of The Dragon" enters the German charts at number 3. Although previous albums reached higher chart positions in the first chart week, this marks a remarkable feature. "Year Of The Dragon" is the 8th Modern Talking album (out of nine studio albums) to reach at least number 3 in the German charts. The album reached platinum status one week prior to retail release. Meanwhile the single "China In Her Eyes" climbs back from number 31 to number 25.

The special features the high-energy songs "I'm Not Guilty" and "Don't Take Away My Heart" as well as the ballad "Can't Let You Go". An award ceremony is scheduled for July this year in Brussels. "Platinum Europe" certifications have been inaugurated in 1998, making "Back For Good" the first eligible Modern Talking album. January 06, 2000: You can read it everywhere in the German yellow press right now. Thomas Anders got engaged to his girl friend Claudia Hess on Christmas evening in 1999. Colorful descriptions in German newspapers and magazines include 100 red roses and an engagement bracelet instead of an engagement ring ... . Congratulations.
