HammRadio's official Wrestling Home Page

Hey folks, welcome another interesting week in Pro Wrestling. Thank's for visiting.

Pro Wrestling has hit the big time once again. This time it has a better stranglehold on the media and where it wants to go. The major reason: Cable TV. Both the top two federations have a a decent profile on cable.

  • The WWF on the USA Network. (and now on Network TV on UPN)
  • The WCW on TNT and TBS.

The WWF's relationship with USA is much like any other program. You must provide Ratings are you will be dropped. The WCW, is owned by Time-Warner/Turner which also owns TNT and TBS. This gives the WCW a higher budget for Production values and Performer Salaries. However this doesn't always translate into ratings.

It's interesting to watch how these guys battle it out for Ratings and even more interesting to find out how they effect the entire Ratings picture. We are currently researching that, so stay tuned.

Roll Call of Champions -- Updated 12/3/98

WCW -- Monday Night Nitro

Where: Air Canada Center, Toronto, CA
Airdate: 3/29/99 (Live)

  1. STING makes his return to WCW television. He was only seen in the rafters. This Monday he will make an announcement to the world!

  2. Bret Hart on his home turf in Canada announced to the crowd "I quit", after working a "shoot"-style interview, mentioning how he beat "Stone Cold" Steve Austin every time he faced him. Goldberg came down to the ring and speared Hart, and Hart turned Goldberg over and "pinned" him. He took off his shirt to reveal that he had a metal plate wrapped around his body, before he made the shocking announcement. To reinforce the "shoot", JJ Dillon and Eric Bischoff came out to argue with Hart. This should be interesting as Hart will take some time off to heal some injuries.

  3. In Hollywood Hogan's return to Hulkamania, defeated Diamond Dallas Page to earn the right to wrestle the "Nature Boy" Ric Flair at Spring Stampede. It also looks like DDP is trying to make a switch to a heel role, which may be difficult given his current feud with Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner.

  4. New WCW World Tag Team Champs were crowned as WCW Cruiserweight Champ, Rey Mysterio, JR and Billy Kidman defeated members of the Four Horseman, Dean Malenko and Chris Benoit. The pin was tainted as the newly re-united Saturn and Raven entered the ring and causing the interference (Raven's EvenFlow to Malenko) that gave the Cruiserweights the victory.

  5. It looks like they are building a Hogan and Kevin Nash split with some pre-recorded videos of Samantha trying to cause a problem between the two members of the Wolfpac.

WWF -- RAW IS WAR

Airdate: 12/14/98

  1. New Tag Champs Big Bossman and Ken Shamrock. Yeah, this makes sense.

  2. Steve Blackman unmasked the Blue Blazer and it was none other than Owen Hart.

  3. The Rock defended his title against Hunter Hearst Helmsley successfully as a "mystery guy" did a Meltdown on Triple H. The guy is a Canadian Andrew Martin (sic), what kind of angle it will be I don't know.

  4. Mankind and Vince McMahon battled with Vince taking some decent bumps. Also McMahon announced that he will be in the Royal Rumble, he drew number 30 which puts him in a nice position to stop Austin from meeting The Rock at Wrestlemania.

  5. Terri Runnels and Jackie are now accompanying Mark Henry and D-Lo Brown. What this means, I don't know.
