I'm a pointer and my kind were bred to point and retrieve game. Some folks have a problem with the fact that I love to hunt so much and my people love to take me. They say I'd be much happier chasing a frisbee. Sorry, I'm not into that stuff so please stop messing with my rights!
I don't care
who shoots the quail.
I always
bring them to my daddy!
This is Ben
with Daisy, one of his dogs.
Daisy passed
away a couple of years ago,
but she was
a great hunter, and Ben took
good care
of the old girl.
Here is my
daddy with the whole gang.
Ben said
he put me on the "A" team.
Personally,
I took a demotion and cut
in pay to
join, but they needed some help.
Retreiving
the birds is a very important part of my job when I'm on the field.
In this picture I was so intent on fetching the downed bird that I found
myself stuck in these briars. I wasn't about to let go of the quail
so Daddy had to cut me out. Ben was so impressed! He said that
in his many years of hunting he had only seen one other dog so dedicated.
I'll bet that pup was special, too!
Speaking
of dedication, I was hunting with Dad and some of his friends when one
of the quail they shot decided to fly across a creek before it landed and
died. I really hate getting my toes wet, but a job is a job.
Mom
doesn't always get to go hunting with me and usually if she does, she has
a camera instead. This time Dad grabbed the camera and let
Mom pose for a picture. She's a pretty good shot, too ---with a gun
and a camera!
Ahh!
Now this is what it's all about! Both Cricket and I both retreived
birds, and Dad was so proud of us. Notice that I'm looking to him
for approval. I really enjoy making him happy!
And after
a good day's hunt, there's nothing like a good night's rest.
