GIRL SCOUTS - COLUMBIA RIVER COUNCIL, INC.

Located in the Pacific Northwest area of the United States, Girl Scouts - Columbia River Council, Inc. stretches from the Pacific Ocean between Tillamook, Oregon and Long Beach, Washington inland across both the Coast Mountain Range and the Cascade Mountain Range to include The Dalles in Oregon and Goldendale in Washington. Included in it's jurisdiction are the communities of Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington, Mt. Hood, and the scenic Columbia River Gorge area. Named after the second largest river on the North American continent, Girl Scouts - Columbia River Council serves the girls in 13 counties of northwest Oregon and southwest Washington.

Girl Scouts are divided into 5 different levels:

• Daisies = Ages 5 and 6 or Kindergarten
• Brownies = Ages 6, 7, and 8 or grades 1, 2, and 3
• Juniors = Ages 9, 10, and 11 or grades 4, 5, and 6
• Cadettes = Ages 11, 12, 13, and 14 or grades 6, 7, 8, and 9
• Seniors = Ages 14, 15, 16 and 17 or grades 9, 10, 11, 12

New troops are formed each year from interested girls and adult volunteers. There are also existing troops that have openings from time to time as spaces become available. If you are interested in joining Girl Scouts please contact the Council Service Center listed below. Adults are always welcome to become Girl Scout Leaders. Training is provided. The council maintains 3 camps:

CAMP MOUNTAINDALE
Just off the Sunset highway in Cornelius, Oregon, at the foothills of the Coast Range. Facilities include the Lodge, the Pavilion, the Rafters, an adirondack, and several primitive sites. There is a large meadow which is ideal for games, and a nearby pond for environmental study.

THE HOMESTEAD
A winterized lodge in a large wooded area close to the Mt. Hood National Forest. This 2-story building in Rhododendron, Oregon is an ideal site for troops/groups interested in snow skiing, sledding, snowshoeing and other traditional winter sports, as well as hiking and other nature study during the spring, summer, and fall seasons.

CAMP ARROWHEAD
Located near Stevenson, Washington in the scenic Columbia River Gorge, this is the council's Resident Camp site during the summer months. Spring and fall the camp is open to troops/groups. There are 4 main unit houses, a lodge, platform tents, teepees, cabins, and other primitive camp areas for tents. Canoeing on Home Lake is one of the many activities offered, as well as a swimming pool. The camp is nestled between Wind Mountain and Dog Mountain, and there are still some building and camp areas in the original Wind Mountain area of the property.

There are also two Girl Scout Houses available for troop/group use. Please call the Service Center to reserve:
