Meet "Bart" he is a Red Bellied Macaw....(Ara manilata) Bart was given to me by some friends, he was an abused wild caught bird. I took him in and fell in love with him. I spent many hours winning his trust.Bart NEVER should have been removed from his wild home & he knew that. These Macaws are very nervous & shy birds naturally. I always felt bad he was taken from his home , but he & I had an understanding. I made Bart as comfortable & as happy as I could & gave him all the love possible . Bart even began to try new foods , leaving his "comfort zone" of a sunflower seed only diet . Bart became suddenlly ill one day , the Vet could not save him .We believe his sudden death was diet related , these Macaws seem to have a very specialized diet. I will miss him very much, now he is in no pain & free again. Good bye My dear friend
