Here at Comanche Moon Farm we are proud to offer some of the best livestock gaurd dogs in Texas. We occasionally have trained dogs or puppies from our Akbash,Dalmatians,or Great Pyrenees. We have Nubian,Boer,Spanish,and Angora goats as well as Barbado Black Belly Sheep. We also have various rare breeds of poultry. We love all animals and support the proper care and husbandry of animals.We do not support animal rights groups. We are very proud to have the following dogs as members of our farm family.These are all working dogs.Notice the variety of the breeds that gaurd our stock. GOATS

Goats make great pets.They are every bit as warm and affectionate as a dog or cat. There are numerous breeds of goats in the world. Some favorites are the Nubian,Saaen,Toggenburg,La Mancha,and the dwarf Pygmys. Our personal favorite is the Nubian.Not only will they make a great pet but they will produce rich ,delicious milk.Goat milk is every bit as delicious and nutritious as cows milk. A FEW QUESTIONS AND ANSWERES ABOUT GOATS What do goats eat? Goats eat alfalfa,grass,trees,pecans,leaves ( fresh and fallen),hay,grains,wheat,pasture.They do not eat tin cans,however they will eat the paper label off of the tin can. You can bottle raise a kid (goat baby) .Using a milk replacer for kids or the mothers milk.Often in cases of triplets you will need to feed the runts with a bottle.Bottle fed goats quickly adjust to you and will make the best pets. Bucks (billys) do have pet potential,but its not recommended.They stink to high heaven and are vulgar beast at their best.They also have a nasty temperment and can be a dangerous animal if the mood strikes them.Nubian bucks can weigh in excess of 200 lbs.and can pack an attitude to match it.Never turn your back on a mature buck.And while bucks are growing up never play with their horns and their heads. If you want a docile goat pet ,but do not care for milk.Try a wether.These are "fixed" billys.They will tame down easily and will make nice pets for the whole family.They dont smell nor do they have the disgusting habits of the un fixed buck. You can even train them to pull a little cart.They are gentle and they wont ram you for the shear joy of it. This imformation will be updated occasionally ,so check back for more or email us.

DOGS

Dogs are truly mans best friend.Dogs give unconditional love to us.In return they ask for nothing more than a pat on the head.They love us everyday,no matter what we look like,what we feel like,who we are,what color we are.They love us on good days and bad days. Breed specific legislation ,of any type,is WRONG!! Laws are passed and the people passing them know nothing of the breeds they are passing laws against.Nor do they care about taking away someones pet. Dogs are like the sun on a rainy cold day.They are always there to greet us with a wagging tail and a big smile. This area of the page is going to be used to profile different breeds of dogs. Our favorite breeds are : The American Pit Bull Terrier (please not these are not Staffordshire Terriers or Bull Terriers),Dalmatians,Border Collie,Great Pyrenees.and the Turkish livestock dog the Akbash. We also enjoy the Boston Terriers.They are really stinkers,but we love them anyway.We love all dogs and I dont think ive ever seen a breed that I did not like.

DOG Q & A Did you know that during World War 1 the United States was represented by the American Pit Bull Terrier on war posters. Did you know that the Dalmatian was the war messenger dog of choice during the Balkan Wars (around Dalmatia) in 1912 and 1913. Did you know that the Great Pyrenees can reach weights of 150,but that it will eat less than a Border Collie. DId you know Walt Disney took a team of artist to a French breeding kennel prior to the making of the animated classic 101 Dalmatians.Dalmatians were photographed in every possible position and expression.That is why the animated movie dogs have such real movement and expressions. Did you know that one Border Collie can do the work of twenty cow boys. Did you know that in its native Turkey,Akbash dogs are fed breed and a bit of grain as their meals.They then will scavenge for meat while protecting their flocks of goats and sheep. Did you know the Boston Terrier is a true American made breed.They are great little companion dogs and have a great deal of energy.

POULTRY

Silkies are small bantam chickens.They are often called powder puffs because of their soft fluffy feathers.The feathers have no webbing and look more like fur.They come in many colors and are docile.They are only available in bantams.Excellent pets.

RABBITS

Rabbits are great pets.They are easy to train and handle.They come in all sizes.Before allowing a child to handle a rabbit,make sure they know how to handle properly.There are many great books that cover this.Never pick any rabbit up by its ears.

Feed vegetables and fruits as a occasional treat only.Feed a commercial pellet for best results.

Comanche Moon Farm is twenty acres of hills and valleys.With a horseshoe creek running through.There are deer,pheasants,quail,and wild turkeys roaming everywhere.We allow No Hunting so the animals feel safe here and are easier to see.
