BAKER, OSMYN, lawyer, congressman, was born May 18,
1800, in Amherst, Mass. He graduated at Yale College in
1822; adopted the profession of the law, and was a member
of the Massachusetts legislature in 1833 and 1834. He was
a representative in congress from his native state from 1839 to
1845, and was state councilor in 1853 and 1854.
