Acquire the Fire - Day 1 Retreat:

Wow, what a weekend! I know not everyone was able to participate in the trip to the Pontiac Silverdome this past weekend but for those of you who did I am sure that God worked mightly in your lives. I'm positive that everyone had an awesome time and came home not only with a new appreciation fo God and His power, but also with a new outlook towards His plans for the world He has gifted to us. Praise God - He is an awesome God! One thing about a fire is the fact that it has a tendency to spread to things which are close to it. May this be our prayer that the fire of God spread through not only our youth group but also our church and community. As you venture back into your daily routines of school, work, spots, and social activities, I ask you.... What is your plan? How have you decided to fufill your committment to God, to your generation and to yourself? Think and pray on the things which you have heard and experienced that you may become holy warriors of our Lord to the world in which we live.

Prayer Challenge

"Be joyful always, pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).

Over the next month I challenge you to pray everyday for the following five things:

  • Pray for your family and friends
  • Pray for your school
  • Pray for your youth group and the church
  • Pray for one acquaintance with whom you are not a good friend
  • Pray for God's direction in your life

Not only do I challenge the youth group to these prayers but also the leaders and parents. Through prayer, our community will grow stronger in faith and we will continue to see the work of God. I will be taking up this challenge and I look forward to seeing God work in us and through us through prayer.
