Well, I have decided that perhaps my page is too somber so I am devoting this part of entirely to my personal fancies (you know, fave movies, singers, actors, books). When ever I find a pretty good link, I will put it on here so all of you can enjoy it. Get ready, here comes the fun...

Good Rentals

Citizen Kane

I have seen this movie at least three times. It is such an incredible piece of cinematography! The special effects are very impressive considering the time it was made and Orson Welles was quite a hunk. I have cried each time I have watched it. It is a good rental pick if you want a movie with laughter and sorrow.

Dangerous Liasons

I have seen this movie only twice but I definitely give it two thumbs up. It stars Glenn Close, John Malkovich and Uma Thurman. It is a period piece so the costumes are excellent. I don't want to give away the plot but let's just say that there is a whole lot of hanky panky going on! (The younger bunch of you might like another remake of the 1782 novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses by Choderlos de Laclos - Cruel Intentions starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Philippe, and Reese Witherspoon.)

The Long Hot Summer

I have seen this one at least as many times as I have seen Citizen Kane. It was made in 1958, the same year that two of its stars married. Featuring Orson Welles, Joanne Woodward, and Paul Newman, the movie takes place in a small Southern town. The story is fun and Paul Newman is absolutely dreamy to watch.

Stardom Here We Come!

Corbin and I were extras in an independent flick called TREES 2: The Root of All Evil during February and March 2002. Show your support for Pioneer Pictures by visiting their web site.

The Best Shows on TV Now Put to Rest

Ally McBeal

Now I will admit that even I am tired of hearing about Calista Flockhart's weight and how short her skirts are on the show, but I gotta tell you, the show itself was hilarious. Every week that I watched it I thought I was going to either have a heart attack or pee my pants from laughing so hard. I love the fact that every character on the show has bizarre little quirks and yet they are supposedly intellegent, well paid professionals. It makes me feel a lot better about my own weirdness and my future. At any rate, all I can do is emphatically urge you to watch it and see for yourself. I know several people who thought they would hate the show, but who watched it at my urging and are now just as addicted as I am...

The X Files

I am pretty sure that most of you out there have seen the X Files by now. It took me until about 1998 to finally watch it because I (don't laugh) get nightmares very easily when I watch violent or scary shows or movies. I still get a littled unnerved sometimes, but I stick it through because the show always leaves you satisfied. Sometimes it's funny, others it's petrifying and it can also be very thought provoking. Plus David Duchovany (which I probably spelt wrong) is a hottie. What more could you ask for?

The All-Time Greatest Actor

Paul Newman

Even at the mature age of 77, Paul still looks good. He can be seen currently in The Road to Perdition, but the bulk of his filmography was done between the nineteen-fifties and seventies. Some of these films are: The Young Philadelphians, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Hustler, Hud, Cool Hand Luke, Slapshot. I always enjoy watching his films on AMC (American Movie Classics). Not only is Mr. Newman a talented actor, he is a great humanitarian. His own line of food products called "Newman's Own" donates all of the proceeds to charities, including a camp for children suffering from blood disorders. (Visit the site for the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp!) He has been happily married to Joanne Woodward since 1958. Check out a scan of a pencil drawing I did of the gorgeous Mr. Newman & his lovely wife. You can also learn more about him here.

My current favorite actor under 30: Mark Taylor

Books I've Read Recently

Books You Must Read

Beloved by Toni Morrison

The plot of this book is so complicated I can't even begin to get into it. The main story focuses on a former slave woman who kills one of her children and that child who returns later as a ghost. This is an incredible book by a fabulous author. If you ever get the chance read as many of her books (The Bluest Eye, Jazz, Tar Baby) as possible!

Lolita by Vladimir Nabikov

This book is so emotionally charged. I hated and loved the main characters. The story is that of a middle age man who falls in love with his teenage step-daughter. It raises so many interesting issues one can hardly put it down!
