For You Far Away
In Loving Memory
Forever Fifteen
Kathleen Ann Tedford
November 3, 1979 - September 3, 1995

Kathy was a lively, fun loving, spirited, and sometimes mischievious young lady with a kind and gentle heart.

She loved animals, especially horses and whales, and aspired to be a marine biologist when she got older.

Kathy loved her big brother, Tim, but as a child used to love to tease and aggravate him. Luckily though, as they grew older, they became very close, like friends. Once Kathy took her brother's car for a little joyride and didn't think he would catch her, except for she forgot to put the seat back, so he knew all along but didn't tell her father so she wouldn't get into trouble.

Kathy was a Girl Scout for 7 years and worked at Camp Storey on Lake Ouachita as a "WIT", a wrangler-in-training, where she helped care for the horses and teach other girls to ride.

Here she is pictured with her favorite horse, Cisco.

This is the last picture taken of Kat. She was fifteen years old and a sophomore at North Little Rock High School. She died unexpectedly from a massive brain hemorrhage due to an undetected aneurysm that ruptured from her use of a "mini-thin"-like amphetamine. She was with some of her "friends" who delayed taking her to the hospital for more than 6 hours after she became ill and only did so after she stopped breathing. She was partially resusitated and placed on a ventilator where she remained unconscious for about 16 hours before she slipped away quietly into the night just after midnight Sunday night of Labor Day weekend in 1995. She continues to live, however, in the hearts of those who love her.

For Kat

I held your hand as you learned to walk
And with tiny fingers you held my heart.
I wiped the tears whenever you fell
And picked you up for you to go again.
As the years passed by I watched you grow
Tall, strong, beautiful, and full of life.
Sometimes we laughed, sometimes we cried
Holding on to each other through the good and bad times.

So sure of yourself and determined to fly,
You tried your wings and vanished into the night.
The shadows have darkened, no longer warmed by your light.
Your memory is close but you're no where in sight.
Please know that I miss you with each passing day
And hold you close to me and love you always.
Love always,
Mom
