Kim and I were married in 1975. He was 20 and I was 18.
I knew the day he was going to propose to me.
How we met is kinda romantic.
I was working at the restaurant his sister Debbie worked as a head cook.
I happened to be working on her shift when Kim came by to show off his
brand new MGB convertible car to her. I don't remember any kind of conversation
we had but all I remember is that Kim showed up the next morning to watch
me bowl in the bowling league I was in. The whole time Kim was there he left
his car lights on, by the time I was done bowling his car was dead. He
asked me to get in the drivers side while he pushed the car so he could start
it. Kim didn't ask me if I knew how to drive a clutch or not. He started pushing the
car and I tried to make the car work. It would start jerking and then die.
We tried a couple of times. Finally, Kim came up and opened the door
and asked me if I knew how to drive a stick. In distress I whined, nooooo. He was so
taken by surprise He grabbed me and kissed me. Ever since that day we were going together until
I moved to Pasco to get a job promised me when I got out of High School.
I moved out when I was 17 1/2. I had earned all the credits I needed to
graduate early and decided to go after the secetarial job I was told about
at Hanford.
I was suppose to be able to apply and take the place of a woman who was pregnant and was taking
her leave of absence. When I got there she had changed her mind and so I went to
work at a line job. Later I got a job as a Secretary to a Department Manager
in
Automotive at Sears. I did clerical work.
While I was living in Pasco, Kim would drive over 300 miles every weekend to
see me. In July he proposed to me and I moved back in September and got a
job working as a Secretary for a Department Manager at Sears in Division 42,64
and 65. We were married November 1975.
I was pregnant with our first son when I was 19. Michael was born in October
1977. Our family had taken off. We have now been married
for 22 years.
