Cephas M. Clemmer was born in Gaston County and resided
there as a farmer prior to enlisting in Company H on October 6, 1861, at
the age of 20. He died in a hospital in Richmond, Virginia, on or
about June 29, 1862, of typhoid fever. Private Clemmer is buried
in the Oak Wood Military Cemetery in Richmond, Virginia.
