Wells Blevins resided in Ashe County and enlisted in Company K in Iredell County on August 19, 1862. He was 19 years old. He was promoted to Corporal in March-August, 1863, to Sergeant on February 1, 1864, and reduced back to the ranks on August 10, 1864. Blevins was captured near Petersburg on April 2, 1865, and confined at Point Lookout, Maryland, until he took the oath and was released on June 23, 1865. Private Blevins is buried in the cemetery of the Healing Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Ashe County, North Carolina.
