Robert Blevins resided in Ashe County and enlisted in Company K, at the age of 32, in Iredell County on August 15, 1862. He was reported absent without leave September 1, 1863, but returned to duty in January-February, 1864. Blevins was captured at either the Wilderness (May 6) or Spotsylvania Court House on (May 17, 1864). He was first confined at Point Lookout, but was transferred to Elmira, New York, on August 8, 1864. He took the oath and was released on June 16, 1865. Private Blevins is buried in the Scott Blevins Cemetery in Ashe County, North Carolina.
